The Danley Kit deal is over at the end of the month. This is the most bass for the money you are going to find.

I believe if you can fit it you should git it.

Anyone with room behind a screen wall should have 1 or 2 of these.

guys, i just need some help. which is best? irrespective of price tag and size? an infinite baffle sub or a tapped horn sub like dts-10? i just want the lowest low bass at high spl readings, with much less distortion. please help in choosing the sub type!!!!! and

where do i find spl's or excursion comparisons of these two types of subs? to justify my self.

You will not find any graphs on "infinite baffle" subs. You will only find specific ones in specific spaces. Even in the same room, you will get one measurement for a single 15" IB using a specific driver, and a totally different one with 24 18" drivers.

Even with the DTS10, the measurements you get "in room" will vary. Outside is a one type of measurement, but inside it can be quite different-due to the parameters of the room. Not every room will "allow" you to get very low-due to the construction of the room.

We have one customer who has a custom sub that is flat (and LOUD) into the single digits. His walls are 6' thick poured concrete. Not to many have walls like that, that do not flex with the large bass waves.

So even if you had that sub-your results would be different-due to your room being different.

Of course if size and price are no object, there is always the Matterhorn

by the sight of it i can imagine blowing up my house! .................lol
................and i am no where.lol
What i mean for the price and size is, my intention to get the best oomph for a dedicated theater room of 25' *20' *8'.

the problem is, i cannot audition any of these kind of true subs, as i am from India. Of course there are a few company dealers here like polk, hsu etc for the audition. But i am not satisfied with them. If at all, i am importing a sub-woofer by clearing 30% customs tax and if i am not satisfied with it, i cannot even send it back, since shipping would cost double the charge of a sub+customs. so i am taking long time to go through forums and posts to choose the best one.
And recently i have gone through this thread, and found the spl curve of dts-10 higher than svs pb-13 ultra.I don't know much about dts-10 and hadn't found as much as an pb 13ultra sub's posts in forums or anywhere on net. As far as it is known to me, Pb13 ultra is saidto be the best bang for buck! and is much reliable and satisfied subwoofer brand as said by it's customers.
And at last, my budget permits me not more than 4-5k$.
So, till date i have 2*svs pb-13 ultra and 2*dts-10 in mind. and i have to pick one.

Heck, If i had to choose between those two I would choose a pair of the DTS-10's. I have two of the smaller Danley SPUDS and they rock!

Don't let kutlow see that. He'll want 8 of them and will have a construction crew on the way!

Check out danley's website. They have shipped and outfitted quite a few people in asia before. As far as comparisons...ricci is working on some measurements with the dts-10. You can also look in the diy section for the dts-10 kit that was offered. You get to see what kind of work is involved inside those things. Lots of pics and graphs there

I was thinking internal wiring but it might be helpful to have both.

With two DTS-10s, I understand it was intended that they were wired for a 4 ohm load.

The owner (and I agree) that he's not get the spl that he should.

Probably has something wired out of phase.

They were intended to be 4 ohm (nominal) but has spots where it quickly can reach in the 2's. I will have to look back for mine but I do know the drivers have to be wired out of polarity so essentially + to - and vice versa. Take one of each to wire both drivers parallel. Its hard for me to explain well over this. I will search to see if I still have a diagram of the wiring.

Tell kutlow to pm me his number again and I will give him a call as soon as I find the correct wiring.

Just for anyone who hasn't had a look over in the diy section, avs member ricci conducted quite a few tests on different subwoofers and posted the results on his web site www.data-bass.com/blog. The dts-10 was tested along side some huge diy subs and a single velodyne 15" and did pretty well. Looks as if it had the top spl overall (129 db measured outdoors) and had very good response down to below 15 hz. Indoors would translate into some mean numbers down low.

Sorry to drag this old thread up but I am considering upgrading my HT system and getting 3 sh50's for LRC and 2 sh100's for rear/surround.

I currently have 8 CHT 18" subs and was curious how 2 DTS 10 subs would compare? Is this taking a step backwards? I'm OK with the 8 18" subs I have, but if getting 2 dts10 Danely subs is an upgrade I will seriously consider selling my CHT subs and getting the Danley.

Thanks.

JK

The DTS-10's will have more output from 13hz-25hz and the 8 CHT's will have the edge below and above.
