I'm looking for an AV rack that with hold my new AVR and various video game consoles. Do you have any good recommendations under $200. Basically, looking for someone open for ventilation and easy access to rear connections on wheels/casters so I can move it easily to access the rear of AVR without any lifting.

Good to know. I haven't tried the peq Enrico mentioned yet but laying the subs (FV15's and B1200D's) on their sides indeed increases TR a bit. I always have mine on hi damping after trying all three dampings years ago when I first got my FV. I might give Mid D a try again.

Basically it is a satellite version of the Sierra 2. It uses the same tweeter as the Sierra 2 and a slightly smaller woofer. They are front slot ported with recessed speaker binding posts so that it is easily wall mountable. They work excellent as surround speakers, or in smaller rooms as front or center speakers. The design was just finished and put into production within the past month or two, so right now they are filling orders from forum members that have been on the waiting list. I think it should go up on the website relatively soon for everyone though.

Here are the specs and measurements:

http://forum.ascendacoustics.com/sho...d-measurements

Audioholics did a writeup with some listening impressions. Not really a full review, but some listening impressions and comparisons to the Sierra 2.

http://www.audioholics.com/bookshelf...a-luna-speaker

Dave F. is also planning to use the same cabinet to make a satellite version of the Sierra 1, last I heard. Also, he is planning to make a miniture center channel MTM version with the RAAL ribbon tweeter and dome tweeter. The center channel RAAL version, he was speculating might be able to play as loud as the Sierra 2, but be in a shorter form factor than Sierra 2 center.

Kinda hard to find an AV rack for under $200 on casters. Salamander Synergy is the series I always recommend but they are very expensive. For instance, if I want to build right now the same two AV cabinets I have I would need around $1500. Just the 8 casters I have in my two Synergy cabinets cost $278

Just ran Dirac and all good. For instance, I can't tell the difference between the Sierra 2s and the Lunas, they sound identical. The Sierra 2s have just a little bit more low end, though.

If you want something that looks like furniture, you may be challenged at that price point (thought Craigslist is your friend). If you have a gear closet, so you don't see your gear, then something like this works very well, is very mobile, is great for ventilation, and is nice and cheap. Different sizes, extra shelves, etc, are all available.

If you can stretch your budget up to $294, the Salamander Archetype A5/B is on sale on Amazon. Regular price is $499. Then you can buy the Salamander Archetype Saturn Casters for $69 later on. Trust me, Salamander AV cabinets worth every penny.

Thanks. I've been searching (now that I know the search terms) and found more. Looks like the perfect thing for the surround back channels as enricoclaudio has done. I would expand my Ascend Acoustics Sierra 5.2 system, with my VLX12s, into a 7.2 system. Hard to think it could sound any better though.

Lesson learned. I've now got the Ascend Acoustics threat bookmarked, just like the Rythmik thread. Maybe I'll keep up now. Or not.

Big Plus One. I've had my Synergy stand for more than 10 years now and never regretted the purchase or considered replacing it.

So far the closest thing I have seen is Sanus AFA which doesn't have wheels included but might work with the threads at bottom of the steel poles.

VTI AR Series in all black is exactly right except for $270 price

Agreed, the Saturn casters are great for facilitating cable management and equipment swap outs.

I like the Saturn Casters but at the end I went with the Heavy Duty Casters instead. The Saturns are rated 400 lb and the Heavy Duty are rated 1000 lb

It doesn't have to look great, but mdf shelves and metal frame/poles would be preferred. Glass shelves a 2nd choice.

I wanted to ask, are there any issues with metal shelves and a hot AVR or video game consoles or cable boxes?

Probably total weight of everything is under 100lbs... likely under 75lbs.

If I can add decent casters to Sanus AFA, that would be perfect. Anyone have experience with that brand and model?

Thanks, I'm going to email Sanus to make sure casters will work with it and make sure I get the right ones if so. That first link with 5/16" width stem should be right just need to make the length of stem is a good match.

My other option is to ask VTI if I can get their AR Series 4 Shelf with 3 shelves and save the $95 cost additional shelves are sold for.

The FV18 is not HP because we don't have a HP or standard power 18" driver. Does this make any sense? For instance, if we put a pair of DS1510 drivers in a F25 and a HX1000XLR3 amp then the F25 becomes F25HP. When the F28 comes out it will be F28, not F28HP. Same for the F18, not F18HP.
What is the official weight of the FV25HP? F18 & F28?

edit: FV25HP weight = 105 kg or ~232 lbs

I asked Brian already and he is going to let me know as soon he gets the numbers. But the F28 is gonna take longer because we only have one sample and it's empty waiting for more amps to arrive. That thing is so heavy that Brian hasn't been able to get it home for serious and stressful testing.

@enricoclaudio , what does it take to power one of these FV25HP monsters? It looks like from that flyer that it wants 2000W continuous, and 5000W peaks. But a 120V 20amp circuit is only good for 2400W. Does it need a 240V 20amp circuit? 10 AWG wire?

Just curious. I'm quite happy with my tiny little LVX12s.

the fv25hp is over 200lbs and I didnt even attempt to move it...I had two college football players move it, and even then I provided a furniture dolly for them.

I have 15 amp circuits and havent tripped a breaker yet but have seen the led on the sub amp blink which I believe means I need either more juice or turn it down. I was around 130 db's in a 20,000ft room with sub trim at -5...its a very good sub which can be very musical or very "beastly" dont know the best term...it probably needs a 20amp circuit but I dont always jam at max

Power: Marantz sr7008, NAD C 275Bee x 2, Video: Oppo 103, Samsung 75un6300
Speakers: Focal aria 948, Focal cc900, Klipsch synergy KSF 10.5 Subs: Rythmik FV25HP, Rythmik FV15HP

Yeah, when my FV18s, each of which weighs less than the FV25HP, arrived, I arranged for a moving company to send a crew to uncrate them and put them in my HT room. It was the best money I ever spent. I know that the shipping weight of the FV18 is 190 pounds but assume that number includes the shipping box and pallet. Anyway, they are heavy beasts.

HT setup: Sony 75XBR X940D UHD HDR TV; Kaleidescape Strato Movie Server 6 TB; Yamaha RX-A3060 AV receiver; Sonamp 2-1 2channel 100W power amp; Crestron Control System; 2 Rythmik FV18 subwoofers, 6 Hsu HB-1 Bookshelf speakers, 1 Hsu HC-1 Center speaker, 4 Focal ICW8 in-ceiling Atmos speakers; Oppo UDP-203 4K HDR BD player; Mac Mini HTPC. TiVO Bolt 1TB DVR; TiVo Premiere Elite 2 TB DVR; Roku Premiere+
