Brian or Enrico would have to provide answers to your questions, but it seems like they're getting close to production.

I bought it directly from Yamaha so the manufacturer's warranty is valid. Like I said, it is brand new in the box.

Just dont know if the warranty is just for the buyer or if it transfers when you sell it. The warranty is good for 3 years from original date of purchase regardless of how many owners in that time?

I could be wrong but I think normally the warranty is tied to the device, not the owner. Unless buckshot registered it but even then it should be tied to the unit.

That would seem to make sense. But if you buy from an unauthorised dealer you get no warranty. What about a private sale?

If that is the case then any potential warranty would then depend on where buckshot bought it from. Are they an authorized Yamaha dealer?

I would also expect that they had to of been an authorized dealer as these are new but I would also want buckshot to tell me who that was before agreeing to buy it and provide me the original reciept with the receiver as part of the sale.

The warranty offered by most brands of electronics equipment cover only the original owner and is not transferable and Yamaha is not the exception as you can read on the attachment. Now my question is, how Yamaha or any other brand knows that the warranty is only claimed by the original owner mostly if the second owner has a copy of the original owner invoice? Unless you get asked to show an ID during a warranty claim, I don't see any other way that a brand can deny a warranty repair.

No need to "transfer" has it was never originally registered but it may require "creative" filing should a claim ever need to be filed (e.g. You would need the original sales receipt. You would need to claim service from a different address than is on that receipt. Hopefully not required to provide a picture ID (as Enrico pointed out), etc). I am out for all those reasons.

Now, the reality is that needing a service should be very low on these things so it is also likely that the buyer would not need to file a claim for service

I have had warranty work done by Yamaha.
No ID was required. I emailed them a copy of the receipt and shipped them the receiver.
But my name was on the invoice and a cc was used for purchase.
I wouldnt want to assume someone elses identity to get repair work done.

Registration is an unnecessary formality. Warranty starts from date of purchase.

Difficult to say though. What if its a gift?

What is Rythmik's warranty stance?

Since this is a Rythmik thread maybe the Yamaha stuff should go to a Yamaha or classified thread?

GLWS though

In the last 7 years the only warranty claim for electronics I filled out was 1 year ago for my Parasound Halo P5 with a defective volume pot. Of course, Richard Schram from Parasound is one out 1000 in terms of customer service so I got my P5 repaired at no cost in one week including shipping transit time both ways. That's the kind of warranty service you get only from small to medium size companies. Forget abut this kind of customer service from companies like Marantz, Denon, Sony, Yamaha or Pioneer. Epson and Optoma are the exception, though.

Let's get this thread back on tract.
Here are a few pictures of my recent Rythmik DIY custom project in an existing Phase Tech Octave 1.0 box...

You are not seeing double. I actually own TWO Octave 1.0 subs which I have had for over 14 years. The only differences are the tops as one is mahogony and the other is a textured black (same as the cabinet) but the tops come off the same way as do the front grills on most speakers so that is why I could change the look quickly. While the amps and speakers in both subs were working, the rheostats to control settings were acting up so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to upgrade. This was my first effort. Needless to say, I learned a few things but I think it turned out well in the end. It wasn't cheap but it probably saved me about $400 over buying a new Rythmik already in it's own box. First some pics and then a video.

Note: I did end up breaking out my jigsaw and router in order to complete this but it all took less than 2 hours from start to finish.

Rythmik warranty is 5 years on drivers and 3 years on electronics and it's totally transferable. You only need copy of the original owner invoice or email from PayPal transaction to file a claim.
