You can also try with a cheater plug (three to two prong adapter) to see if the hum goes away.

Your advice worked thank you!!! Why does that happen I never knew my sub and receiver should be plugged in to the same circuit.

Even my wife couldn't be happier. I was pleasantly surprised that the 12s don't leave me wanting at all. I tend to play movies at about -20 when the wife is with me, and -5 when she's out. Either way the Rythmiks sound perfectly flat, completely relaxed, like they are just lopping along without a care in the world (while shaking the walls). I don't think the 15s would be any different at all; they could deliver the exact same SPLs (with a few more dB at max output if you ever manage to get there), just at a higher cost.

Now, if you can't get the 12s through Ascend Acoustics, by all means go for the FVX15s. Same tech. same sound, a few more dB max SPL. It might be overkill but that won't hurt anything.

Thanks for the input! It's $175 more for me to get the pair of FVX15's from Ascend Acoustics vs the LVX12's direct from Rythmik due to sales tax. I think the 15's are overkill for my purpose but for the small difference in price it's kind of like 'why not,' I'll have a little more headroom and a couple hz lower extension. Will be ordering today... hoping to get black matte in spite of what Rythmik's website says.

Last time I tried to purchase a Rythmik from Ascend, no sales tax was added shipped within CA. Sales tax is added for other Ascend speakers though. So I'm not sure what's happening there, but you may want to check it out.

Finally after a week long analysis paralysis phase (and selling my SVS SB12-NSD), I put in an order for a B-stock Rythmik E15HP black matte now! Hopefully I'll be on this thread more and more going forward. And yes, I am super excited! :-D

The FVX15 black matte is back in stock. Ascend does not carries any stock with them. All Rythmik Audio subwoofers are shipped from our warehouse in Austin, TX. We process orders placed directly with us the same day. Ascend usually takes 4 - 5 days to process orders then they send the order to us.

BTW, if you live in TX and order from Ascend Acoustics in CA, you will pay TX sale taxes either way. It won't show up in Ascend's shopping cart but they will add the sale taxes portion manually to your method of payment.

Thanks for the heads up on that... a little disappointing but it opens up my options a bit... makes me wonder if the LVX12's really would be better for me then.

Here is what my method is.

I use superglue gel. Unlike the regular fluid version, it is very well controlled. It bonds in 5 seconds and complete cure may take just a couple of hours.

As always, practice whatever many times you can, and then glue only once.

First dry fit and check if the logo plate is flat (not damaged or warped during shipping)

The trick of applying glue is only put on small beads of glue. Give about same distane to all edges. 3/16" will do.

Tapes can help alignment.

Good lighting is going to be very helpful. But missing the spot a bit is not a big deal.

Side view of the logo.

enricoclaudio and MrGrey like this.

I had a humming issue in one of my cables that I bought on Amazon (Mediabridge I believe), it was actually a pretty good cable, used many of them before, but it was 50 feet long and you really need a good quality cable at that length. I ended up ordering the Blue Jeans Cable LC-1 Analog Audio Cable. Solved the hum issue just fine for me. It sounds like you had a blue jeans cable before, then bought a monster one. I would say switch back to the blue jeans cable or buy another. I think it comes down to the actual coper wire in the middle of the cable, most are just copper platted, which doesn't work well for long sub-woofer cable runs, causing hum. Basically it looses the ground over that long distance, which is why sometimes using a cheater plug can help. Rythmik actually helped me figure this out, so thanks to them

I noticed the same thing as well, if I plugged them into the same circuit my hum went away, but that required me to run a 40 ft power cable though my walls which doesn't meet code Like I said in the post above, really all you should need is a high quality sub cable, not a mediabridge one from amazon or one from best buy either. But if your sub and receiver are near each other, and plugging them into the same outlet is ok, then whatever works for you best, stick with that

There are numerous things you can buy to break a ground loop without running a 40' power cord across the room. You can buy line-level isolators or a power line isolator from Amazon pretty cheaply. A "high quality cable" will not break a ground loop. It might change the impedance of the loop and help, but it is very rare when a cable has done anything for me or clients.

Got the logos today and after some tests I agree with Brian that the best method is Superglue Gel.

As you can see we have two sizes. The big one for 15" subwoofers and the small one for 12". The price for the logos is $0, we are giving them away for free for current customers. We will charge only $2 for each logo for handling and shipping within the 48 states. We will sell up to 2 logos per customer unless you have more than 2 subwoofers. Brian is gonna make an order link that I will share with customers over email. I will post an update as soon I get the order link from Brian.

$2

Cant wait for my logo. May have to buy another FV15HP so I have something to put the second logo on. Buy a $1200 logo and get a free FV15HP sounds like a killer deal to me.

Yes, that's my plan but most probably not for Easter weekend. Either one week after or come back two or three days before Easter. My older sister will be in Milan visiting my niece mid April so my plan is meet with them over there. Like a family reunion

It should cost the same. First class mail rate is flat within the 50 states.

Alright guys, after way too much research, reading of internet forums and hand-wringing, I placed an order for 2 x LV12Rs. Although I had my eye on a couple LVX15s, with TX sales tax factored in the price was really pushing it without having heard any of the subs I've been researching.

Here's the thing... I need a baseline. I'll be finishing my HT room this weekend, and I just have no idea what is enough vs overkill for my sealed 2500 cu ft of space. Based on my wife & kids' somewhat low tolerance for high volume, I'm convinced the LV12R's will be adequate 98% of the time... it's that other 2% I just don't know about... maybe they will and maybe the won't. If I'm left unsatisfied, I have options:

- Split them up and move them to other rooms (I have 2 more rooms that will soon have multi-channel audio and will also need a sub)
- Talk to Enrico / Brian about how to integrate more subs into my room and have them play nice with the LV12R's. I'm thinking these could be stacked on top of some of Rythmik's bigger subs in the back rear corners (only place my room will accommodate the subs) if needed, and cable them such that the AVR sees each stack as one sub.
- Rent a truck, drive the 3 hours to Austin and exchange with a couple FV15HPs (would save on shipping both ways).

Let the journey begin!

LV12R? Or LVX12? There is no LVR12.
