Down the road I will be moving...hoping they will still hold up in a larger room...up to 2600 cu feet good, right? I don't listen real loudly with peaks around 90 db.

For "normal" people like me, a pair of L12s in a 2600 cu ft room is more than enough. I do really care about my hearing because it is my source of income and I know you care about yours as well so yes, a pair of L12s is plenty.

The only reason I have a LVX12 in my bedroom is for customers to come and audition it. I also have a L22 under my desk that I use for near field setup. Both of them are overkill for the task they were assigned. All the subwoofers I have in my home are available for local customers to come and audition and that's the only reason I have 4 subwoofers in my 710 sf apt.

Haha that is awesome. Does Brian have a similar setup? Or do you have audition space in the shop? I may be coming down to Austin for a Tabeau Conference in November. Maybe i'll stop by then to say hi.

Just so you know, Brian is in Austin and I'm in Houston (180 miles distance). We don't have a demo room in our shop but if you are local you can take the subwoofer with you and audition it at your home. If you are just visiting Austin, you can call Brian and schedule an audition in his home. He has a similar setup as mine but he can take any subwoofer to his place for the customer to audition. If you come to visit to Houston, then feel free to give me call and we can schedule an audition as well. I had last week a customer coming to audition the pair of F12SEs I have here and he got really impressed. He has amazing equipment in his house, mostly vintage McIntosh pre amps and amps, Wyred4 Sound DAC, Golden Ear Triton 5 speakers but in a really bad room, so bad that he can't hear dialogs coming out of the speakers. Next Friday he is bringing his speakers and some equipment to my place to listen to them and hear the difference between a non treated room like his room and an acoustically treated room like mine. I recommended him to not buy any subwoofer until his room is acoustically treated with GIK or ATS acoustic panels.

Ah gotcha - didn't realize you were in Houston. Well - if I did want to audition anything, it would be one of the new subs, but not sure they would be ready to demo by early November, and I would feel bad asking Brian to lug one to his house!

Yes, and It has happened before but it's random, for me it's not a click it's a pop sound. The same sound you would get when you sync the minidsp unit when the sub is on. To be clear I don't have the minidsp in the chain. I know what that click sounds is like but this one wasn't like that.

Sub newb here. I am going to convince my wife to "let" me get a new sub in a couple weeks. She is getting granite countertops, after that, it's my turn!

So I know I am gonna pick either the F12 or the F12G (paper cone). My question is that the system is 100% music only. TV is connected to it's own sound bar and sub. So if the sub will be for music only, which type cone material is better? From what I read on their site, it sounds like the paper is better because it is lighter. But I wanted to run it by those more experienced than myself.

Will be paired with Parasound JC-2 BP and A-21 with Oppo 105 and Klispch Palladium P-38s.

Parasound JC-2BP
Parasound A21
Klipsch Palladium P38
Oppo 105 (used for audio only)

I don't have this on mine. Only time I get a popping sound is if I forget to turn the sub to off before unplugging the RCA cables or sometimes when starting a sweep in REW. You're saying it's happening when the sub is in auto and goes from red to green - like when you switch to a movie with bass, say, from watching the news?

Yes, but its not always like this which is interesting and like with REW you will get that pop sound because of a high signal coming in from the sweep. idk if its my AVR being weird with static causing the louder sound.

The error code is for HX series amp. So it does not apply to A series and H series amps (such as FV15HP, F15HP,and F12).

Can you try without plug in the signal cable? Just manually switch between AUTO to ON, then to AUTO, then to OFF. There will be a light thump turn on noise, but should not be loud pop. I had a customer before that his AVR was sending a DC signal (which shouldn't). If you still hear loud pop with no signal cable, we may need to get the amplifier back to check.

I tried that and i heard the the thump. the noise i heard was louder like when the miniDSP 2x4 is loading a new file or is being synced [not connected], maybe its the AVR i have no clue but i will listen out for it in the future. the pop i hear is just like when i run a sweep in REW Room Eq wizard and have the sub on AUTO.

recently discovered the FXV15 sub and am wondering if duals would work for a 2500 non sealed cubic ft area. or would i need something more substantial for output? weighing my options on an upgrade.

If that is the case, then there is an explanation. When amp detect signal, it takes a bit of time. When it turns from red to green, it the signal is already very loud, then it can create louder than normal thump noise becasue when the amp turns on, it can turn on at any point of the input signal. For instance, if you have a sine wave, the thump noise is least if it turns on to a value that is close to zero. The first noise is when it turns on to the peak of the sine wave. Which signal value the amp turns on to is completely random.

The way to workaround this is to make sure the amp is in green light when you do a test like REW as the signal is very strong in those tests.

The paper cone woofer is lighter. Therefore, it is supposed to give you faster transient response -- meaning the driver will stop playing the note more accurately, because it carries less inertia.

Depends, how big is the rest of the space? That factors in.

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

If you are OK with your Epik Sentinel, I would say that dual FVX15s would be a huge upgrade in terms of output and sound quality as well.

Depends on how loud you listen, what you intend to primarily use it for, and how "hot" you normally calibrate the sub(s). Without this information, it is a wild guess on our part how much SPL you need.
