I also have a FLAC version that I downloaded online and it match with the Golden CD version. Now most estrange is that in Youtube I found the two versions for Cakewalk tune, one paned to the left and one paned to the right. Check yourself:

Which one is the right version????
My FLAC rips from my blue (non-gold) CD have the cymbals panned to the right channel in the Cakewalk track.

This is very odd. I just ordered a used Tricycle CD from Amazon ($14) to compare. This is a christmas gift for a friend so lets see. But looks like the Gold I got is the right one. Funny thing is for the last 30 years I have been listening to a very unique CD

Does the Rythmik LV12R have a badge on the grille? Or do these still come without and badge?

Since about one month ago all subwoofers go out with the Rythmik logo glued on the grill already.

Wouldn't happen to have a pic? Do the rubber feet screw into the cabinet? Or are they stick on?

I don't have a pic of the LV12R with me here but I can take a picture of my F12SE, L22 or LVX12 if you want. All our subwoofers come with screw in rubber feet. Additionally, the L22 comes with stick on rubber squares in case you want to put it laying on its side.

Assuming the badge is the same for all, any pic of the badge would work. Concerning the L22, I see your website lists the L22 and LVX12 at the same SPL @20hz . How do these subs compare higher and lower in the frequency range?

Here you go: Official Rythmik Audio Subwoofer thread

In terms of frequency response the L22 and LVX12 are very alike. I have both, the L22 as a near field subwoofer in my desktop setup paired with Dynaudios BM5 mkIII and the LVX12 in my bedroom paired with B&W 685 S2 speakers in a 5.1 setup. I have no preferences but the LVX12 has a more full body sound which is noticeable only with some content, mostly high bass movies. The L22 is very good with music and also handle movies very well. You have to be very picky to hear a difference between the two but yes, there is difference only noticeable if you compare both side by side.

Thanks for the link to the badge. As far as the LVX12 and L22 go, would the dual driver L22 have more output capability higher in the frequency range and the LVX12 have more output capability below 20Hz? Asking this on pure capability if they were tested outside, not factoring inside factors like room gain.

All our subwoofers measurements are taken anechoic. Check on the freq. response charts for each model and you will see they are very similar in terms of output capabilities.

Just pulled up Cakewalk and have to say that while I don't always like what Yamaha CX-A5100 does with 11ch stereo, but it sounds amazing on the song. And 3 F15HPs do a real number on the kick drum.

Flim and The BB's is addictive. Now pull up Invisible Woman and Atosha from Big Notes album.

And finally pull up Lunch Hour Wedding March from Tricycle album.... The bass is just sick on this tune

I read somewhere that an 8 inch voice coil negates the need for Servo control... Is there any truth to this ?

Link?

I don't think there is a "need" for servo control but it reduces distortion and power needs, the way I understand it. I recently tried to find a 15" sub on DB.com with lower distortion measurements than the FV15HP and could not.

Hi All

I don't know much.....say nothing about sub. I have a 20 year old Velodyn VA1210 and I am ready for a new one. I am leaning towards Rythmik 12". My question is whether there is a difference in sound quality between the F12SE($999) vs the "entry level" L12($539). I know the SE looks a lot better particularly with the piano black finish and silver cone, but for blindfold test, can I really tell the difference?

Thanks

The Velodyne VA1210 is a 10" subwoofer with 100 watts amp. Also frequency response is 35Hz - 200Hz (+/-3dB). Even the Rythmik L12 would be a HUGE upgrade compared with your VA1210. Could you please let us know the size of your room and also your listening preferences? Movies or Music?

Thanks, I uploaded the dimension of the room. I am more interested in comparing the low line and the SE. There is a difference in price, does it reflect on the sound quality.

I don't quite understand all the technical details on sub, I just worry about the sound.

I mainly watch tv( not surround sound movie, just on air show). I found I don't like surround sound, I had it before and did not like it. I only have stereo hook up. I listen to jazz with electric instrument like Dave Grusin, Lee Ritanous, Chick Corea etc.

Thanks

I can see this is for stereo setup, right? What kind of electronics and speakers you own? Receiver, separates, integrated and most important, speakers. BTW, your room is about 2240 cu ft

I have a pair of JM LAB Spectral 913.1 with dual 8" woofers each. I currently have the Nakamichi PA-7 power amp. I design my own preamp. I am going to design and build my own power very soon that......hopefully much better than the PA-7.

I am planning to upgrade the speaker in the future, so I am not exactly going for bargain sub either. I just want to get my money's worth. If the SE is superior, I will pay the extra for it.

The sub is going to be next to the left speaker under the window, 15" speaker is a little too big as I am also using it as coffee table with a custom made 3/4" glass top.

I just never think about the sub ever. I bought the VA1210 over 20 years ago from a recommendation and never look back. My concentration is on the main speaker and the power amp. Lately I just think back, my Velodyn must be lagging my current system as I bought that before I upgraded my system 20 years ago. So I think the best bang for the buck is upgrade the sub first.

Thanks

I don't quite understand all the technical details on sub, I just worry about the sound.

I mainly watch tv( not surround sound movie, just on air show). I found I don't like surround sound, I had it before and did not like it. I only have stereo hook up. I listen to jazz with electric instrument like Dave Grusin, Lee Ritanous, Chick Corea etc.

Thanks
That's all I need to know. Go with the F12, period!!! No need for the F12SE. The SE means Piano Black finish. The F12 Black Oak or Black Matte and the F12SE are the same subwoofer. I have a pair of F12SEs and my favorite music is jazz. I have almost every album from Lee Ritanous, Dave Grusin, Fourplay, Chick Corea and Flim and The BB's. The F12 just sound spectacular with jazz.

If you want more power then another option in the same price range is the L22. The L22 is 4dB more powerful than the F12. I have an L22 paired with Dynaudios BM5 mkIII monitors in my desktop setup and they sound awesome.

Ha ha!!! Too bad you live in Houston and I live in the Bay Area. We have more to talk. I don't listen to music as much, my collection are from the 80s and 90s. Please give me some recommendations for the more current musicians/groups and I'll look into them as you like all the stuffs I like.

I thought the F12 has paper cone and SE has aluminum cone. Is that more for show rather than sound?

Thanks

Hahahaha. 90% of the music I listen to is from 70s, 80s and 90s. Like I said, mostly jazz. New jazz groups? Snarky Puppy is one of my favorites new jazz bands so far.

The F12 and F12SE have aluminum cone. The F12G is the one with paper cone.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into them.

I went on Rythmik site, they said it's paper cone. Question whether it makes any difference or marketing?

I do like the size of the F12, it's smaller than my Velodyne, it will fit my glass better. If I get the SE, I have to buy another custom cut glass that's going to be over $100!!!

Thanks

You must be looking into the wrong item. Here is the link for the F12:

http://www.rythmikaudio.com/F12.html

Like I said, only the F12G has paper cone driver which is made by GR Research. BTW, I work for Rythmik Audio

The main difference between the F12 and F12G is the driver. The F12G extend up to 120Hz while the F12 up to 90Hz. If you plan to crossover below 90Hz then go with the F12 with aluminum cone.

The F12 and the F12SE are the same size (15-3/4" x 15-3/4" x 17")
