That's not the LFU, but still useful.

Yea, I've seen that. I meant the LFU. My bad. Thanks anyway.

IIRC, Jeff said they will be testing a LFU sometime in the next few months.

Found it:

@asoofi1 and @Freakquency - do you happen to have compression graphs or SPL readings to see what kind of output you're getting in room at 20hz and 25hz?

I can testify a sealed sub works quite well with the OS LFU...I've been running one of my shifters with a sealed 24" from DSS...and they get along with each other during play time.

Over the last week I've had mine I can barely believe how far this thing can be pushed, I haven't seen the top yet. It's so hard and clean your clothes vibrate on your body and I'm on a concrete floor in an 1800sq ft open basement. With corner loading I don't believe 20hz levels will be an issue.
I currently have 4 x Ported Marty Subs. I'm already getting all the output I could ever need in my room with the Marty Subs but I'm left wondering what it'd be like to own the best commercial sub when it comes to output

Aren't you the "crazy guy" with 3 x Shifters? Man, that must be plain nuts! I'm at 125db@25hz with 4 x Marty Subs (2 full martys /w 16hz tune and 2 marty cubes /w 20hz tune). Doing a very rough calculation, one of your OS is equivalent to my 4 Marty Subs with HT18's (1kw rms each driver). Your set-up is wicked!

I'm tryin to evaluate if it's worth switching out my cabs to sealed and ordering an OS LFU before Friday. As of right now, I'm leaning towards just upgrading my drivers. I really want to experience 35hz-80hz, 130db+

That was a very memorable experience. The OS is obviously a potent sub, but having two near-field like that was just awesome!

What distance are these measurements taken? Are you using just tones or music/movies clips?

the crazy thing is that is probably starting to seem tame compared to your latest 18" mains and horn sub set up. Can't wait to read the responses after your GTG.

the OS benefits from multiples in most rooms just like other subs in terms of evening the room response across multiple seats. It does seem ridiculous and I remember thinking after the first one there is no way I would buy more of them, but the bass is so addictive the next thing I knew I had three of them. If the room were bigger I would consider more of them.

I have to go back on my comment of not getting another OS, I can actually see myself getting another.

The measurements were taken 12' in my MLP. Here's a compression graph with only 3 Marty subs - I had to stop because my umik1 started to clip. I ended up measuring it manually by generating sinewave tones using rew and measuring with a CSL cm-140 spl meter (115db@12hz, 121db@16hz, 125db@25hz, 126db@30hz). I've since added a 4th this weekend and about to add 2 more next weekend. I'm going to stick with the diy path, I only started to dabble in it 3 weeks ago.

my xo was set to 50hz and have yet to add any eq

Looks great, respectable numbers. I wanted to go diy but I just don't have time.
I believe the umik can be adjusted internally for taking higher readings.

I hear ya on having the time to build. Luckily for me, I found a local guy that charges me about $100 in labor per Marty sub build and turns it around in a week.

The value in the OS IMO is the best, unless you can build your own g-horn. The components alone that go into an OS monster makes the price worth it. Nevermind about the knowledge and skill set to build a horn sub in that calibre. If I were to rewind 2 months ago, I'd have dual OS lfu's. It's the only commercial sub offering I would ever consider purchasing again, that's for sure!

Yes the price was way to close for me to build vs buy.I built my first set of speakers twenty years ago that are still in use at a friend's house, so no stranger to diy.

I just got in trouble with the wife for playing this at 120db
She said the light fixtures upstairs were going to break

I didn't think it would happen because of the heaviness of the shifter but mine has been slowly moving around on my concrete floor, anyone else experience this? I found mine all the way up against the wall last night.

^ mine made it upstairs, ate everything in the fridge and then acted like nothing happened. Do you have the rubber feet mounts? I took mine off b/c they are not moving but with them on they are almost impossible to move (even when you are trying to)

Yes I do have the rubber feet, I will have to get some of those moving men plastic discs when I get my room built.

You can lock the door so they can't get upstairs but the shifters have a tendency to vibrate out hinge pins to get what they want!

If an Orbit Shifter was built to be just a straight 14' horn instead of folded inside of a box, would it increase performance?
Also maybe like a snail shell with no bends/corners in a round enclosure.
Just wondering what effect all of the internal sharp direction changes have on output.

There is little effect. Even at the topend of the response, 110hz, the frequency waves are 123 inches in length. Sound travels at 1126ft per second which means it is only in the horn for about 14 milliseconds.
