The Tempest-x2 supposedly works really well but its more driver than what's needed for the MFW enclosure and at a price of almost 300 it's too much money. Plus who knows if it'll ever be back in stock. Hopefully Kevin's got some good news here soon on a replacement driver.

Dont want to say to much at this point, but we should have a proto driver (first of several different pieces)some time next week Now it will take some testing, and then a little bit for production IF it works out but drivers wont be long

If you are not local or at least cannot pick them up I'd guess the cost of shipping will kill the deal for most folks. I have purchased a number of large heavy items at auction and based on previous experience I'd guess you are looking at a $50-100 pickup/packing fee and a $75-125 shipping fee (freight might be less). Also you then run the risk of damage in transport and this is higher if it goes by freight in my experience (versus, UPS/FedEX).

I stopped by the auction yesterday. There were no mfw15 amps to be found except for a few on a pallet that were not up for sale. The auctioneer told me they were for customer returns. They were not boxed so maybe they were cannabilized from some of sub boxes that were missing their amps. Some of the electronics that supposedly worked were missing power cords, buttons and stuff like that. A few of the sub drivers boxes are stacked on top of each other with no padding for protection. I would bid on only things I could look at in person. I'm thinking of checking out a couple of HR ufw 12 driver lots that are stacked on top but I have no idea if they are an improvement of the original.

The drivers won't do you much good without a modified amp to drive them. The amp modifications are most of the improvement.

Anyone know the weight of just MFW-15 woofer (not the enclosure)? If I win my auction I have no use for the enclosure and need to know what kind of shipping I am looking at.

So are you saying that you are bidding on enclosures that have woofers in them, and that if you win, you are going to ask for the woofers to be taken out of the enclosures and have just the woofers shipped to you?

They do have some woofers listed for auction.

The drivers themselves only weigh around 10-11 pounds.

I have a couple of extra woofers on hand that I've been holding on to. I may put em up on ebay soon.

I have them listed on MCAA's forum but have gotten zero interest in them.

Gotcha, But I also think what you wrote would apply to using the Dayton driver and having it not work out *ideally*.

Yep, I've already decided to not even bother bidding on any of RIP123's (oops, AV123's ) items. I'll save the $$ and put toward other future upgrades, such as the Turbo kit, or more tequila for margaritas...

Good luck to anyone that's bidding, I hope you do end up getting a decent bargain...

I have them listed on TCA's forum but have gotten zero interest in them.

Basically... I bid on just woofers and a couple of MFW-15's without amps thinking that I could swap out the amps on my satin black ones into the ones that would match my rockets. The ones I bid on have some dents, dings and scratches. After letting a couple people look at the pictures they didn't feel like they could make them look as good as I would like them to for a price that made it worth it. So if I win the only one the I am still bidding on I will just take the woofer and use it as a backup. I only Bid $5.00 on it so hopefully it won't cost more than $75.00 total to get it here.

Hello! Please give Justin at PakMail 303-237-9240 and he has been great with our customers. Thanks. Smaller items could be easy to estimate shipping costs, but the big lots of multiple speakers, cabinets, etc. could end up being quite pricey to ship...

I spoke to Justin and shipping for ONE mfw-15 to NY would be $335.

Like most people who own the UFW 12 I know the amp is only good for me to poop on. My plan is to get it modified. I still want to know if the HR woofer would be worth dropp along with a modified amp. I got a mfw with a screwed up hum and a crappy ufw12. For what I paid for both I could have gotten a nice sub. Now I'm trying to see if I can repair them somehow.

A friend who is in the Denver area called me Saturday asking about those since he went over for a look for a sub for himself... They were not in boxes and they all had marks from being mounted before. There were a few amp failures in those so who knows if they are damaged or not. I haven't checked with John at AE Speakers, but I suspect it would cost >$100 + round trip shipping to re-cone them to an AV12H or X driver (X version would be the best match for a UFW-12). If you have the original woofer still, you might want to just wait for the amp only upgrade Kevin should have more info on, as the original amp won't work any better with the HR-12 driver.

The amp itself is fine. It's just set up all wrong for the driver and box combination. For as delayed as the UFW-12 was you would think AV123 could have delayed it a few weeks longer to adjust the amp to the proper settings especially considering they were working directly with the people who made the amp.

Maybe someone still has their MFW shipping box from AV123, could ship it to you empty, then you could use that for sending a sub safely...just a thought!

Any of you guys follow the auction? Some guy named deepthoughts bought about 70 or so MFW-15's, some with no amps, no drivers etc... Not sure on the total he paid but it was around 400 bucks or so I guess?

Not including the shipping and other fees etc.

If I lived in Colorado it might kind of cool to have 10 or 20 enclosures. Then just go pick em up. Buy em for a hundred bucks or whatever, then just store em out in my garage and just throw a turbo in 1 of em every now and then. OR an amp or whatever else you can come up with.

What exactly do you think it would cost to have a packaging company to box and ship it across the country?

I wanted to do something similar and found that it cost a lot more than I thought....to the point where it wasn't economically feasable. Companies that do a lot of shipping get price breaks.
