If your friend gets it for $1500 hopefully sales tax
Would be included. Otherwise it's a wash.
2) the biggest benefit (in my opinion) for the higher
Priced Paradigm subs is PBK. You should get it.
3) your speakers are powered so you don't technically
Need an AVR. But, a quick glance I didn't see a
Subwoofer output jack. (I could be wrong) then there
Is the issue of bass mgmt. you would still be running
Your speakers full range. An AVR would help with bass
Mgmt and room EQ. (audyssey) But, you will need to
Get an AVR with pre-outs since you have powered speakers.

You have a lot to think about.
