Wards place was outstanding.

First time I have ever really enjoyed a 3D movie. That is one beautiful setup.

And your sub works! No shortage of bottom end in your room that's for sure.

I tried a few tracks on it while we had it at Nathans. It has just a little bit of grunt capability.

A beauty shot on the wood working

Thanks for the kind words, Mark. We enjoyed your visit.

Re: "It has just a little bit of grunt capability." I'd actually put it in the "More than a little bit" category... wink.gif

Let me know if you ever decide to swing through Denver again. Now that Quadzilla's all tuned up you can kick back & listen to it destroy Tokyo...

Cheers!

Anything new with FA? Seems kinda quiet these days, especially after they went to RMAF.

Well I know that Nathan has been very busy working on his website, I have made a few contributions to it as well. Not much use having awesome products that have little to no exposure.

A few gents have some of our front channel speakers , we are eagerly anticipating a review of these.

There are always new things in the works.

Master Funk has me working on a number of things.

Some very high end totally horn loaded home theater stuff.

The kind you install out of sight but it sounds "outa sight" ( have to be old enough to remember the guy who used ti say that on TV ).

And subs that can kick some very serious butt, with surprisingly low power levels.

All these will be in an architectural series that is up and coming.

R&D is well under way, stay tuned.

We have been super busy the past few months, not only with orders but we have also been upgrading our manufacturing facilities and working on a new website, in fact we just put up the new website. You may notice there is some missing information etc as we are still finishing it up, please bear with us.

The bad news: I have no subwoofer at the moment. The good news, I've got an 18.0SE on order. As you might guess, there's the teensiest bit of anticipation. biggrin.gif

Thanks! Old sub was a PB13U, so dropping to a pair of KEF Q700s to reproduce the low end well...sucks biggrin.gif Either way, the eventual plan is to add a second, which should make for a pretty potent system in my room (~2,300 cubic feet, sealed).

I definitely have high hopes. The cool part will be having all that performance on tap from two relatively attractive 20" cubes. Size was the big reason two Ultras were a no go.

Steve are you going passive like ADTG or with the in-house amp. Considering any custom work like solid wood inlays or exotic veneers?

I'm going active; keeps things simple and the in house amp looks to wring out most of the performance the driver offers. Nothing fancy on the cabinetry either I'm afraid; most everything else in the room is black (speakers, furniture) so you can guess what finish I opted for biggrin.gif

In the to do list. New driver for the horn loaded subwoofer. That is almost ready to commit to metal.

As for measurements I have wait for warmer weather. Look up minus 24 Celsius. Not conducive for real anechoic measurements.

Pics will come. But that is when I have made version two. We tweak, we listen, we measure. Then we unleash biggrin.gif

Thanks Ward. This new home theater horn system will be designed and built to be heard but not seen. That being said, Nathan and I talked today about how to make the horns pretty enough to be seen. So as with all things at Funk Audio we are flexible.

I was just checking out the Funk 18.3 sub on the website. I am surprised there is not more talk about it, or if there
has been I missed it. Anyone here own one? And why is the 18.2 so much more expensive than the 18.2?

The 18.2 utilizes a pair of active woofers (the v2 of the TSAD) with 4.8kW of amplification vs the single active woofer (TSAD v1) +2 passive radiators and 2.4kW of amplification in the 18.3. I believe the v2 of the TSAD is a bit costlier as it has a more powerful motor and is optimized for a smaller enclosure, but Nathan or Mark would have to confirm or deny that.

i tend to agree. the 18.3 is my favorite sub, even though it is not the best the FA offers. when i have listened to it, it has always surprised me at how well it handles any kind of material. IMHO, it is very well composed and just amazing to look at. why more ppl dont talk about it is just because.

What Steve said!

Official confirmation.

But seeing as Master Funk is the designer of the subs, and I'm to this day messed up on the numbering scheme, he should chime in if he has anything to add.
