Leonard Cohen qualifies but his songs are so morose, you'll find yourself wanting to stab your soul with a fork, just to put it out of it's misery. tongue.gif

You have to listen in fully uncompressed audio mode to get the full affect as this YouTube version cuts half the bass out of the song and doesn't do the bass justice.

Leonard Cohen: "I'm Your Man."

Give his version of "Hallelujah" a play as it has some strong, great bass but again, whom ever takes me up on my suggestion, needs to find the CD and play the uncompressed version to get the full impact of the racing, mid-bass, heart thumpy thingy.

k.d. lang does a great rendition of "Hallelujah" with some super mid-bass piano work. Again, must be listened to when in an uncompressed form or you'll lose the depth of the music.

Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne" is worth the price of admission...

Harry Gregson-Williams - Life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQnok-1bIP0

This is the intro track from Prometheus. It has a couple nice deep bass sweeps in there.

So I was taking it easy and listening to this mix, which is some mellow but dark dubstep, and this OMG bowel-churning tune starts playing. Just wow.

I picked up the album Biophilia by Bjork - her usual crazy stuff wink.gif but what seems to be some very prominent bass in there, including some stuff that seems lower than I can go??

HMV had it on sale for £3 the other day, so if someone else can check I'm not going mad then that would be great smile.gif

I love me some Dream Theater... I miss Portnoy though. I'm looking forward to seeing what Mangini can come up with during the creation process of their next album.

How well does a You Tube video's sound transfer over? Is there any degradation? I was going to try one of those bass tests, but figured it wouldn't sound good so I dismissed the idea.

Yeah. Guess it depends. I know I can use Airplay with YouTube videos through my iphone. I haven't really tried it yet though. Think I will tomorrow with some of the videos posted in this thread. I lean towards that being better, sound quality wise, than the usual way I watch youtube videos these days...through the xbox that is...but idk if airplay would indeed be better. I really have come across some poorness using the xbox though. I'll try to report back tomorrow about using the phone with airplay, this way I can really turn up the volume. It's too late now.

Thought this was interesting as I have always been disappointed with Pandora's streaming service through my home theater system.

"Pandora on the Web plays 64k AAC+ for free listeners and 192k for Pandora One subscribers. All in-home devices play 128k audio, and mobile devices receive a variety of different rates depending on the capability of the device and the network they are on, but never more than 64k AAC+.

If you're listening to Pandora in your browser:

Once you're signed into your account, click your email address in the upper right corner, click Settings and select Audio Quality.

If you're listening with the Desktop Application:

Click on the menu arrow between the two Thumbs icons and select Preferences. Audio quality preferences are under Music Streaming Quality."

Very deep bass! My current home subwoofer can't even reproduce it at audible levels. My car can though. biggrin.gif If anyone knows what frequency this is, please let me know.

If you're talking about the lowest bass note that starts at around 0:28, Spectrum Lab says it's 30Hz.

Cool song, thanks! Sounded okay on my system but the You Tubes never do that we'll for me in general.

Thanks! Sounds about right, my sub fades away in the mid 30's.

Pat Metheny Group, song "Cathedral in a Suitcase" - not sure how low it goes but I do know that if you don't have a killer system there's freqs so low you won't even know they're there.

Wouldn't that be like having sex with a totally hot partner, not remembering and then them telling you in the morning how terrific last night was?

Not sure how many would be into his music, but 'Heron Blue' by Sun Kil Moon is quite excellent. You start with 3:15 of beautiful vocals and classical guitar. Then your house shakes.

Maybe it's just personal tastes, but I've always been a fan of the Beastie Boys and "Intergalactic" in particular. The youtube version doesn't have quite the full range as the CD.

I have this Beastie Boy Video Anthology DVD that I always play for any new system I get. I've never had an amazing system but this DVD produces some serious deep bass. I have a new SVS SB12-NSD on the way, and this DVD is ready to test it out, once I set it up.

Mutemath - Equals (Has a great bass cascade that dips all the way down to about 25Hz)

Captured a waterfall of this song.

Have had this song on my hard drive for years... one of my friends wrote this for a old Quake 3 level I made almost 11-12 years ago. Neither of us had systems at the time that could play below about 35-40Hz, so I was quite surprised when I played this recently on my SVS sub. My entire room was breathing! eek.gif

I'm only good down to about ~19-20Hz, but anyone that can dig deeper I'm sure this is quite an experience. lol

I like the Lights from Ellie Goulding (Bass Nectar Remix).

http://youtu.be/Imixg3jrJS8

Also, I have been complaining about not liking the sound quality on some streaming and mp3 content. I read up on my Denon receiver and found out that if you turn on the "restorer" (#2) it will fill in the gap for the lost audio. Such a huge improvement now when I listen to Pandora from my Directv! I highly recommend using this setting.
