So im based in China and just happens that DALI is a client of mine. I am looking for a HT duty subwoofer. DALI has suggested me their new DALI E12F for a fair price.

I dont know however how they are for HT? Will they really hit the bottom that I am looking for for my HT?

On the other hand I can also get my hands on an SVS SB12NSD for about 1000RMB extra.

I should tell u all that I dont have any DALI today. I have 100% Cerwin Vega at home powered with QCS & DUSSUN V6i.

Hope you can advise what I should go for!

I don't think you can compare Dali subs and SVS - although I know Dali also makes a few very expensive subs (which I have not heard) - svs are in an entirely different league - especially in regards to HT.

But, what's your system - which cerwin vega speakers do you have - Having balance in the system is an advantage - it certainly is so if you want to have a subwoofer that can keep up with your system.

No waste, grab a bar, get saw on.

If that was me, I would be looking at larger and more powerfull subs than the two you mentioned in the original post - fx something ported from the svs-range.

What's the "fair price" for the DALI? I see they go for around 480 pounds, which is about $780 or so dollars. 1000RMB seems to be an extra $156 for the SVS, totaling $936 if I have my conversions right.

What size room are we talking (H/W/D)? That'll be the big determination.

DALI is around USD 850 and SVS is around 1000.

My room is huge.. Its a high ceiling living room around 900sqm, 5.5 meters high. I know I can get my hands on a PB12-Plus but need wait a few month but for that price I can get 2 DALIs

900 square meter floorplan by 5.5 meter high ceilings? Is that correct?

I'm getting somewhere around 5000 cubic meters for the room. That's not just huge, that's gigantic. Are you sure those figures are right?

If that's the size of the living room, either sub is going to find it near impossible to do anything in there.

That comes out to about 16,200 cubic feet, which is huge (but not hanger size, fortunately.) You definitely want two of either of the subs.

based on the specs alone, the Dali won't hit as hard as the SVS. The SVS will go deeper and give you more output in the lower bass zone.

But I would recommend you wait a bit until SVS releases their PB12-NSD. That sub is a much bigger sub and will give you bass down to 20Hz. Compare that to the SB12 which starts dropping at 25Hz and the Dali which is probably even higher around 28-30Hz.

The European site for SVS says it's shipping end of September.

So what's the diff between PB12-NSD and PB12-Plus

The PB12-plus have received awesome reviews is much more expensive but might be worth the extra money

The way I look at the difference is:

NSD - good
Plus - better
Ultra - best

With the plus, the driver has more heavy-duty quality of construction and capability

The amp on the PB12-Plus has twice the power with a few more adjustments, and the cabinet is larger which provides higher sensitivity

Basically you will get higher output with less distortion, and a bit deeper bass extension as well. Even if you don't use all the output capability, the sub is less strained which results in cleaner sound quality

As long as the sub's large cabinet itself fits well into your living space,
I would say the PB12 is well worth the price, so if you can afford it, you won't regret it.

Good to hear. In that size of a room, you'll probably need it.

Just found out that I can get both the PB12-Plus and PC12-Plus here.. The PC12-Plus is around 200USD cheaper than the PB12-Plus.. Any advise on which is better?

Talk to SVS or your retailer - but they should have quite similar performance. I have the pc12-plus and I'm very happy with it. The cylinder is easier to move and takes up less floorspace than the pb12 - but the pb12 lets you see the driver get a workout and looks more traditionally like a subwoofer.

SVS has always said their cylinders are basically equal to their box subs, and they have the advantage they take up less horizontal space and are much easier to move.

I personally prefer the looks of a big box sub though with their nice finishes.

L-Sound in Norway is the European dealer, and I bought through them - the prices are in euros and taxes are included.
Call and talk to them - send them a sketch of your room, I think they provide a high level of service.

First you were considering the SB12NSD (their smallest sub) and you ended up buying the PB13U, their biggest box sub. You did very, very well.
