Transmaniacon hit the nail on the head. Let's just say while the nxg is fantastic for 260 bucks it now resides at my fathers house and I have a 900 dollar sub instead, and am saving for a second. It just can't compete with higher end subs for sound, but you may get more sweet spots with 2 cheaper subs.

If you don't want to spend too much on a sub, don't spend too much on a sub. If you're curious about trying out an SVS sub, get one and take advantage of SVS' free shipping and free return shipping within 45 days. Your cost for an in-home demo will be $0.

There is also the SVS PB-1000, which is $500. It will still dig deeper than the NXG, and be more accurate, output is probably similar (except for <25Hz).

I have an Auralex Gramma for my sub, and I can't really tell much of a difference in sound quality, but it does prevent the sub from rattling things in my living room.

Thanks about the auralex.might not get them.

Id look into the svs or if you're really budget minded and want output maybe a rythmik would be up your alley

I'd also suggest watching SVS's outlet specials. Because of SVS's one year trade in policy, and because they just came out with some new models, you are likely to find a deal on a like new SVS PB12-NSD with full warranty from them that someone traded back in. They may go fast as they are posted.

Theyre not going to be a lot cheaper though. The PB12-NSD Outlet price on the one I saw was still $599. Thats less than 15% off on a used sub.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

$100 off is a lot for some people. And it still comes with the 5 year warranty from when you buy. That's pretty good. Makes it the best deal for a 12" sub right now smile.gif

They go fast as they are posted. You'll have to watch and see if they get more. And be ready to buy.

Don't say no to a 10", bigger is not always better, svs 10" will beat just about any budget 12". The box, port, design can make a huge difference, and svs and hsu both are fantastic at making things way better than you think is possible.

+1

I had the opportunity to review the PB1000, and what it's capable of is quite impressive.

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

Hey guys, I'm looking for a subwoofer to pair with my klipsch rw12 since they are discontinued and am wondering what a good one two match it with.

Does it really matter if one is different sounding?

Suggestions?

It does matter. I paired a Bic F12 with my RW for a while and it sounded ok. But I wouldnt suggest it.

Its not as critical as matching speakers but you want something with similar specs. The 12dII would probably do well but for what they cost you can probably get a better sub. Have you thought about selling the RW and getting a better sub?
What size is your room?

The synergy sub-12 would be worth 199.00, the RWII is not worth 500.00. You can get a PB-1000 for that.

I have a Martin Logan 10" 100w pair with a DIY 12" tc sounds with a 500w yung amp. They sound bad together when unequalised, but with audyseyy, they sound great together.

Going from a RW12 to a NXG would have to be a lateral move at best. Your best bet for the next level of accuracy and output would be a Rythmik LV12R or PB12. Note NWC33 has a vid of his LV12R hitting 102db on the radio shack spl meter(uncorrected) during the Pulse server scene. He noted just a slight bit of port noise when up close and no mechanical noises but the clip light was on. That is a great output for a single 12" for that scene. His FV15HP did 107db during that scene no clipping or port noise.

Do you think the Synergy12 would be alright with the rw12d? Are they going to be relatively close to equal?

Not sure. The RW12-d was a great deal because it was so heavily discounted. For the price of the Synergy12 there are a lot of good subs to choose from. I would avoid Klipsch.
