Not many reviews on them other than their website.

One major problem with the in wall subs is how do you know where to put your sub without testing it out in the room? And someone has to properly build the place for it and know what they are doing. Subs have enclosures that are optimized for the driver. If you just stick a sub in a wall, you'll likely get crappy sound.

They're priced at $195 and it cost me $25 in shiipping! I noticed they're in stock on Amazon and Radio Shack as well, but at the $260 price. Provantage says there's 33 available in inventory...here's to hoping!

Provantage is not an authorized dealer. Are you getting a full factory warranty?

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Let us know how that works out for you. The link you posted takes me to their homepage, not anything specifically for NXG, so I tried searching the site for 'nxg'. I got no hits, which isn't encouraging.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Weird. I get the same thing now but earlier it took me straight to the bas500.

I guess that's because they didn't have any. They cancelled my order. Just as well, I guess. I'll order it from Radio Shack like I was going to initially. My wife works for the corporate office and I thought I might get a discount, but it doesn't seem so. I'll still rock with a great sub!

Here's the actual email I got:

Hello

We are sorry but the item you are ordering we are not authorized to sell at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The order has been canceled and no charge has been issued for the request.

Thank You,

So they put up a webpage dedicated to a product they can't sell, and even went as far as taking an order for one before they 'remembered' they couldn't? Interesting way to run a business. Wonder how many other things they 'have' that they really don't.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

OK, I've been hoping to do an SVS PB-1000 or 2000, but in all honesty, I just can't spend the money right now.

I KNOW this is a large space.  Ceiling height is 9' at the TV wall and up to the second story at the back.

99% HT

I'm debating on:

Dayton Sub-1200

Dayton Sub-1500

NXG-BAS-500

PL-200

My AVR is old and has no LFE out.  I'll be using speaker-level inputs.

I won't exceed $300 delivered.  What are your thoughts.  What's the best quality for the money?

A single NXG or PL-200 won't suffice in a space that size, so if $300 is a hard limit you can scratch those two off your list. If you have the ability to place duals then the Sub-1200 might prove to be an attractive option, otherwise a Sub-1500.

Can you put the sub within a few feet of where you sit? That would be the best way of getting good bass out one of these subs. Your room is just so large.

That's what I was afraid you would say, though the both of the Daytons are cheaper. I guess I could do dual 12's to either side of the TV.  Hmmm....

No.  I think the sub is going to have to go either in the corner to the right of the TV or between the Polk A5's - about 2 feet to either side of the TV.

If it weren't for two kids coming up on college - one next semester, I'd quit wasting my time and buy the SVS.  I hate being responsible!

Spend the extra $60 and get 2 Dayton sub1500. You'll thank yourself later.
Putting them together in front by the tv will almost certainly not be the best placement. Front and back corners might work well. Maybe one to the right of the tv and one where the symbol "4'" is?

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

There is a chair in front of the stairway.  My drawing isn't that good.  I could tuck a second in behind that.  I already have conduit to that corner.  I don't think a 15 will fit back there though.  May have to go 2 12's.  I'm willing to live with simply an improvement over the low end of the Polk RTI A5's for now and spend the money in a few years to do it up right.

I was talking about the corner opposite that.
You cant pull the chair forward?
If you try to go too cheap you may not get hardly any bass at all unless you set it right next to where you sit. That would be more of a waste of money than anything. Atleast get something where youll notice the difference.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Point taken.  Thank you all for your insights.

Here are a couple of better drawings.  Moving the chair has a low WAF.

You could get a 1200 and a 1500.
Thought about using the sub as a table in that corner where the table is? That would provide good bass to the people sitting there. You could, put something on top to make the surface bigger if you like. Might not be WAF doable but would help a lot with bass. Just a thought.

Has a WAF factor of "sleeping on the sofa".  Well, not completely.  She's cool and understands what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone.  I have a lot to figure out.  The Daytons are on sale right now, which is making it very tempting.

I probably never should have said that. I've made the mistake of buying my teenage son fairly decent audio equipment. He may end up asking me if he can go to community college for a semester so HE can get an audio upgrade (lol).

LOL.

I just placed an order for ONE Sub-1500.  I saw the $10 coupon code, so $169 delivered.  It'll buy me a couple years until the mortgage is paid off and I can buy what I really want!

I got mine in on Thursday, but I've been building a wall unit for my bedroom and haven't been able to really enjoy it a whole lot. I can't wait to get my bedroom finished! It does hit much harder than my Athena 10", but I guess I just have too much space for the sub to really fill (opens to kitchen/dining room and nearly the whole front of the room.
