I have no idea of how it performs, but the Elac S10 debut price has been reduced to $149.99.

There is a whole other thread about using this sub to increase mid bass tactile response in home theaters with multiple subwoofers.

How does a PA sub differ from a non PA sub (I guess a home theater sub)?

Looking to replace a dead Energy S10.3. The receiver is an Onkyo TX SR313, with 2 bookshelf speakers Pioneer SP-BS22.

Would the Pioneer SW-8MK2 be similar to the Energy? Price certainly is attractive.

No. The Energy is a much better sub.

Info on usage, room size, personal preferences, etc. is going to help narrow down potential options to those most suited to your needs.

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

In a small ground floor apartment, carpeted living room. Probably sitting in a corner. Used for music, and tv/movie watching.

Small is relative, and since subwoofers work with the entire volume of space dimensions (HWD) are extremely helpful. Which is more preferable, quantity or quality? It's very difficult to get both in this price range, so knowing your priorities will allow people to make better suggestions.

Living room is 16'2" x 13'4". I am looking for something comparable to the Energy 10.3 that I mentioned above, if possible, for a similar price. I think the price of the Energy was less than $200 at the time it was purchased, so obviously I am looking with a limited budget in mind.

Only if you bought it used.
Check this thread everyday and you might run into a deal for something on sale that is comparable for $200.

That's 2 of the 3 dimensions required - there's no height given, and believe it or not that does matter - but I'll assume a standard 8' ceiling height. If so you're in the 1700 ft^3 range, which is not terribly large. bond 007's suggestion is legit, because people post sale prices here all the time, but while you're waiting for those check out the Dayton SUB-1200. It's a solid player in the under $200 category.

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

Good deal.
Most people were paying $275-$325 when it was on sale. Seems like it was $499 msrp.

newegg.com has the Jamo J12DA for $150 right now. Should be a very good budget sub and I can tell you the J-112DA is very impressive.

I bought it on Newegg, so perhaps it was on sale.
