PB-1000- 18.4" x 15" x 17.4" = 50.8

That's not as big of a size difference as I thought. I'm going to be in a condo though so more compact like the sb-1000 is ideal and I won't really be able to have volume too high so a xs-15 seems like extreme overkill for the cost.

You would be suprised how a quality 15" sub would sound over a 10" at low volumes...you will get more room filling sound, plus the fact its down firing makes it look more like a nice piece of furniture. I would go nearfield(end table) so you can keep the volume down and still experience the tactile sensation. Trust me I dont listen to TV or Movies much louder then -25/30 and my XV15's sound so much better than the single paradigm pdr10 or dual polk psw505's I had prior at all volume levels.

Either way I think it's over my budget unfortunately. $500 is right around my max.

Just saying, if you can wait a couple more months and throw a couple hundred more into the budget, it will be time and money well spent.

Subwoofers are a reward kinda thingy. If you spend, you will be rewarded.

PS-1000, PB-1000, PC12-NSD, SB12-NSD, PB12-NSD.

I understand the limitations of limited budgets when I post the above recommendations.

I was originally thinking of getting the RW-12D on sale for $280 but figured the $500 range would be well worth it. I'll see if I can talk myself into the next price jump.

How much better is the SB12-NSD over the SB-1000? $500 vs $650 both sealed 12's.

If you're willing to spend $650 IMO you'd be better offer going with the Outlaw LFM-1 EX over both the SVS subs.

I was looking at the other two because of how compact they are. 13x13x13 and 14x14x14. I'll def keep them all in mind though. Is the outlaw $150 better than the PB-1000?

I am an Outlaw fan I have dual LFM-1 Plus's... But honestly you gotta compare apples to apples. The SVS prices include shipping, the Outlaw prices do not. I just looked for where I live it would cost $89.85 to ship the EX so that takes the price to $738.85... I bought my dual pluses on sale for $499 each with free shipping. Now if you could wait for the Plus to go on sale it is a steal at $500 and the best sub you can get for $500. The EX also goes on sale for between $600 and $630 with free shipping, that is also a good price. But at $740 now your getting into the PSA league.

If going with a single subwoofer, due to output, it's recommended ported over sealed and one would be better served in the open expanse of a living room to go with a PB-1000 over that of a SB-1000. Once one goes outside of this type of simple response, one gets into the wonderful world of multiple subwoofers, various manufactures and a lot of other complications.

(this being a PSA thread, my comments are intentionally PSA centric)

I like the base plate too. I wish they still did it with veneered options. But I still great looking veener.

I think part of the problem with black ash is its been abused by speaker manufacture using it in cheap vinyl rap arounds. So it kind of ruined the finish for me.

I sold my SVS PB12/2 plus in anticipation of the Triax. It's going to be a long few weeks with no sub at all. I can't wait till they start shipping.

Thats brutal. At least you get the nice prize at the end of the wait. Which finish option did you choose?

Also I'm a little surprised the triax is so poplar, I mean I know its awesome, I think we can all agree on that. But the 2k plus (dollars) sub market seems to be pretty hot right now.

When one considers the level of performance you're getting along with the quality of components it's not really surprising at all really.

Just think of how many SubMersive HP subs Seaton has sold over the years, the Triax sub should be able to best the performance of one and has a 2 year longer warranty.

Good point Jb, I keep forgetting about the warranty difference. In part because I don't want to wade the Sumb thread to find info.

This is going to be an interesting design. It's cost is going to be between $500 - $1000 $$$ more than the SubM Hp depending on pre-order vs regular price vs multiple discounts. For the extra money you get one more 15" woofer and 2 yrs longer on the warranty. It also appears to be a SpeakerPower amp same brand as the SubM HP but with the amp power of the S2 & Orbit Shifter. I love the way it fits perfectly in a corner.
This is going to be a Bada$$ subwoofer.
Please correct any of my incorrect guesses.smile.gif

Look at it as a hobby and all of a sudden the price gets cheap real fast.

What does a 225HP Yamaha outboard cost or a boat to attach it too?

With a few quality lenses attached, what does a decent pro-digital camera body cost?

(has anybody priced the used, pro-body market lately? oh my gosh, used pro-bodies have become uber cheap)

What does a one week, ten day driving vacation cost when staying at decent accommodations along the way?

What does a Triax or pair of XV30f's cost?

As suggested, when the price of a Triax is compared to other things people consider normal to purchase, the Triax suddenly becomes the cheapest toy on the list.

That was exactly the argument I used to gain the WAF on my last round of upgrades (which included a new XS30).

Between her tears of; "I just see you spending money." How did it go? tongue.gif

(yes, it can get rough when the WAF comes into any hobby decision)

Maybe I should take up RC helicopters for entertainment purposes. That'll make her wish I would go back to subwoofers. tongue.gif

(and yes, as retiree's, we're well funded and our bills and saving's needs are taken care of, first)

It didn't take much arguing. After my first point, mentioned above, the only other thing I had to say was that if she was going to object to my spending on audio gear, then I was going to have to take a thorough look at what she was spending on clothes/shoes/purses. The debate ended promptly right there.
