Just let it go. The participants here are better than that. Keep it positive and let the trolls get banned if they push the drama incessantly like in the past.

One of Jim's fav shows. I haven't given it a shot yet but soon..

Anyway, again, PLEASE everyone, let it go. Support comments only, share fav flicks, that type of thing, keep the vibe positive. I'm betting the mods are getting really fed up with the same crowd trying to create drama and people are going to get banned soon. Don't let it be you just because you lowered yourself into the mud. Thanks.

Does the subwoofer look heavy? Then it's expensive, get away from it!
The struggle was real when JP came out on VHS. It was one of only three movies I know of(on VHS) that has strong bass content 25hz or lower. Putting that type of signal on magnetic tape---not so easy..

Who knows the other two?

Sorry if this has been answered as i havent finished reading through all the posts. As my set up is in my living room and i have lots of rattles, what i have done to try and isolate as many as possible is download a tone generator to my phone. This allows me to generate any frequency down to a fraction of a Hz and hold it when a new rattle appears. I can then go and identify and hopefully find a solution. It may not be the magic solution, but does help remove what can be removed.

Is that a slave/passive plate installed for outdoors testing with the speakerpower amp external? Or has someone decided to order dual s7201s with an external sp2-8000 amp?

Perfect response Tom! Take the high road: something good can never come from responding in kind to such negativity!

I use this website for downloading test tones and sweeps and load them onto my thumb drive.

Be cautious though. Some of the test tones can damage your hearing or equipment if played too loud.

Sitting here wondering what bass addicts do at 0500 in the morning when they can't blast their subwoofer? They go online and talk about subwoofers until everyone wakes up I guess.

It is a block off plate with a binding post. We usually run all subs like this when measuring outside. Jim has the amplifier next to his PC rig on the test cart. This way he can access and adjust the DSP easily. Here is a picture of "the cart" measuring amps inside and measuring a sub outside(you can see the amplifier right next to the PC).

Another bass-less weekend gone by ..... I saw someone had mentioned , I believe it was on the S7201 preview link above about a Wife section on the forum?? Did that get started?? cuz the GF came out of nowhere with negotiating skills that she didnt have before...I was waving the s7201 picture in front of her trying to get her into it , she replied with "Fine get it , you arent getting the pool table and im getting the dining table I want" Well that shut that idea down... Figured I would go with the 1801's up front , and since I have the 2 PC12's in the garage I may try to incorporate them... I was thinking of maybe upgrading the PC12's to the pb13's , but the prices on the PB13's are still really high even in the outlet...It may be better to just spend the money on the Ultra upgrade from PC12's for re-sale value...the PC12's I have arent moving at a price of almost 50%...

The local high school is right across the street and when they head home most drive right next to our measurement setup. We get a lot of weird looks, every once in a while someone will stop and ask a few questions.

I have had some bites , but shipping usually ruins it...I have been trying to get $1450 for the pair when 1 costs $1200....Reading thru the SVS thread and Mthomas pretty much summed it up as usual , that the 12+ line is the oldest design per se' and there seems to be more issues associated with them...Im going to see what I can upgrade to and for how much. I think the PC13 Ultra may be the cheapest way and may get more re-sale value and should be able to play nice with the 1801's for the meantime...

Wow, you weren't joking! There's so much windy bass mixed into the film; the movie is uncomfortable to watch with a powerful system. Also, there's countless times the microphones on the actors bump into their own clothing or pick up subtle things with bass near the microphone (like gentle footsteps) that should never be in the mix, often creating rustling or a low thud. I started at -10MV and backed it down to -15; the dialogue and overall sound level is pretty hot in this movie.

This is a perfect scenario to use the Low Frequency Containment (LFC) on D&M receivers to roll off some of the bottom end. I turned LFC on, and even at the lowest level (1 of 7), it makes the audio in the film much more tolerable; but I'm trying to watch it without any correction to better appreciate all the fantastic audio mixes out there. I imagine people watching on built in TV speakers aren't going to notice the poor sound job.

The movie is Survive (2009).

Speakers: PSA (MT-110 x2, MTM-210C, MT-110SR x2); SVS Satellite x4

I have had some bites , but shipping usually ruins it...I have been trying to get $1450 for the pair when 1 costs $1200....Reading thru the SVS thread and Mthomas pretty much summed it up as usual , that the 12+ line is the oldest design per se' and there seems to be more issues associated with them...Im going to see what I can upgrade to and for how much. I think the PC13 Ultra may be the cheapest way and may get more re-sale value and should be able to play nice with the 1801's for the meantime...
That stinks. Shipping is one reason I haven't tried too hard to sell mine. Before I bought all my PSA gear, I considered upgrading the PC12+ to a PC13 Ultra to see if that'd satisfy my bass needs. However, after factoring in shipping and the additional upgrade cost, I realized you can almost buy another powerful subwoofer instead of what would just be a marginal improvement over the PC12+. The cylinder has sat unused for a while now, and the wife just noticed the other day I haven't sold it yet either...I haven't tried at all other than asking a few friends.

Put your 1801's where you planned on putting the pool table and see what kind of response you get.

After seeing the announcement of the S7201 and it's dimensions, I immediately measured the area underneath my pool table. The center of which is about 10 feet directly behind MLP in my room. It would be a perfect fit and I think it would be a good month or two before my wife even noticed it sitting under there.

I haven't had a real sub long enough to have a real good idea of what movies from back in the day had awesome bass in them.

I would think that Leviathan and some of those cheesy ocean thrillers would for sure.
