It has that feature i think, but its a spl meter, and i do have a rat shack spl meter, so do i just run the sub test tone in the avr until it reads 75db?.

Im getting bad phase issues or something.
basshead81's Avatar basshead81 02:41 PM 06-25-2013
one sub looks pretty good, the other has a bad 62hz null. they look like they are fighting each othe. did you try adjusting the phase on the sub with the null?
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 02:44 PM 06-25-2013
Yea i tried all the PHASE i could, didn't help, at 180 PHASE the response is better, but its OUT OF PHASE at my location, i don't get this at all.
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 02:45 PM 06-25-2013
I wish these were smaller, so i could stack them, with both on it sounds good, but the graphs don't show it.
basshead81's Avatar basshead81 02:49 PM 06-25-2013
do you have any other placement options?
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 02:52 PM 06-25-2013
i do but its only on the side of my tv stand.
basshead81's Avatar basshead81 02:58 PM 06-25-2013
have you tried placing one there?
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 02:59 PM 06-25-2013
Yea when i got my first one, but it didn't sound good there, the XS-30 sounded better there.
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 03:01 PM 06-25-2013
I might move them there tomorrow, or try n stack em and see the responsece.
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 04:12 PM 06-25-2013
OK guys i just STACKED them were the Right sub is,and the same thing happends, both Phase on the subs are at 0, and X-Over is on bypass on the subs.
basshead81's Avatar basshead81 04:14 PM 06-25-2013
sounds like maybe the dsp cal in the amp could be off...not really sure, you might want to contact Tom and see what he thinks.
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 04:16 PM 06-25-2013
Thanks, i did put a new amp in, maybe something is up with that, i know i put the wires on correctly though, im in contact with him now.
basshead81's Avatar basshead81 04:35 PM 06-25-2013

pdxrealtor's Avatar pdxrealtor 05:07 PM 06-25-2013
Where did you get the amp? And what was the reason for the switch?
Joshjp's Avatar Joshjp 05:08 PM 06-25-2013
I got it from Tom at PSA, the input of the RCA was a little messed up.

No the new AVRs are pretty easy. I just got a Denon 4520 a few months ago and it sets both subs. It walks you though it. It will balance them to 75db. You just have to goto the subs and turn the gain knob and watch the screen.

Thanks Reef! Yeah I think I get a little distracted with seeing other programs being mixed in or should I say downloaded. Hey you got a brand-new Denon! Congrats! cool.gif

Could you ellaborate a bit more than the RCA was messed up, I know how these subs are critically tested prior to leaving the facility, this is a first for me.

One of mine had a issue as well when I first got it. Turned out it was a connection on the amp that was not seated all the way. Tom took care of it quickly and everything has been good since. smile.gif

That being said, one big factor to consider is how loud you like to listen. I never play anything at reference (not even for demos) so I'm sure that's why the xs15 is plenty IMO.

I'd say shoot Tom an email if he doesn't get a chance to respond on here. Let him know all the details about your room and especially your listening preferences and he won't steer you wrong.

Thanks all, Tom suggested a XS15 as well but that was before the XS30 came out. Normal listening level is -18 to -10 for movies and games (some music). So it appear in a month or two I will be ordering a XS30..

You'll be really happy with it if and when you do.

I'd like to see some pics of the XV30f in the wild if any new owners don't mind posting them. I'm also interested in seeing what it looks like from the back. If I get one I may end up facing it towards the front wall, meaning the back will face the listening position.

Thanks. smile.gif

No house curve yet.... i purchased the 2x4 2.1 advanced revision b. I am waiting until I have more time to play with the mini...jim is going to help me with some data to plug into it. the problem right now is its fireworks season and i am busy with that at the moment. So now its more listening and less fiddling with settings and measurement gear.

Tom said one of the connectors might not have been soldiered all the way, my problem was the sub would turn on and make a poping noise, sometimes not even touching it.

My xb 30f x2 are on the way. Ill snap pics for you. The amp is on the back and the port fires out of the bottom. Im not sure if youd want the driver firing into the wall though.

If you could set it up that way why not just flip 180* ?
