Okay PSA fans, I have an XS15 in a 1650 sq. ft.. room. I have a Marantz 8801 pre/pro with a Cinenova Grande 5 channel amp. Von Schwiekert speakers in a 5.1 set-up. I will add height speakers in the future. Running Xt32 and still don't feel the kick in the chest feeling. What do
I gain adding another XS15? I have 2 openings one in to a hall way, another in to a family room. I sold a PB Ultra 12, one of the first one sold when it was

Do you mean cubic feet? 1650sq ft would be one huge ass room!

Assuming you meant 1650cf, the XS15 should be plenty for that size room but adding a second XS15 would certainly help. I would also try the sub in different locations if possible. I ended up with mid sidewall for my dual XV15s and it sounds very good but every room is different. What do you have your sub gain set at?

Paradigm Studio 20v5-fronts
Paradigm Studio CC-490v5-center
Paradigm Studio 10v5- side surrounds
Oppo BDP-105
Marantz SR-5010

I would definitely check placement and sub gain level as was already mentioned. Have you done the sub crawl to identify a good location? What are the dimensions of your room in cubic feet? (Length x width x height)?

My room size is 15' x 12' x 8' 9" and no I have not done the sub crawl but need to do it. When I ran XT32 and set the sub's gain. it is about 12:00. The PB12 Ultra just seemed to have more punch. Getting ready to order the UMIK-1 this should give me some info on what I need to do.

The sub should easily be able to handle that room size. What is XT32 setting your sub channel at? The owner's manual of the XS-15 states to set the sub around 2:00, this may give you the added bump you are missing. It is standard to set the sub's gain at 2:00.

I would adjust the gain, then do a sub walk and see what position sounds best and go from there. That Umik will obviously help out a ton as well!

When I run XT32 it has me set the db. level to 75 and that was 12:00 on the gain dial. It would not let me continue until I did this. should I get out my SPL meter and set it to 75?

Yes that is correct. My room is the same size and xt 32 puts my gain right at 12:00. I have dual xs 30's and they make my floor ripple. Damn I love these subs!

Have any of you guys heard a Rythmik up against a XS30? With all the talk about how great Rythmik SQ is does the PSA match it? Kinda like the look of the XS30 the best out of the subs I'm looking at and think it'll look good as a side table or behind the coach. Think I'm down to custom made Rythmik sub from Salk Sounds, Funk Audio sub or the XS30, like how the PSA sub will be the easiest on my wallet and likely get it the soonest.

There is a review of the xs30,Hsu uls15 & Svs sb13u....although not a Rythmik the 13u should be very close in terms of SQ if you consider the driver used. AAMOF...once my XS30 arrives I'll have a chance to compare it with a loner Svs sb13u which was offered to me from another local member. The aforementioned review is excellent IMO very descriptive and full of detail...which likely won't be matched by mine...but having those 2 subs in home should be a lot of fun...if the XS30 comes close in terms of SQ...I'll be a very happy new owner because I know it will have more over all output and closely match my Sierra Towers gives it a big plus...in my book.

Cheers...JustABrah....biggrin.gif

Ya, there are some spooky spots. lol... It's the kind of horror flick I like. Though I do like the original Halloween series too.

I really am thinking about that second xv15. Even though my theater area is in the basement, the way I have everything set-up limits where I can locate another sub. Basically either stack them, or within 5 foot of each other. Though I have thought about getting an electrician to run a few new 20 amp lines for me. biggrin.gif

I'd really like to have the sub/s on 1 breaker, the rest of my A/V on another... etc...

:sigh: money money money lol eek.gif

So far I have my whole HT setup, the Triax, and the entire basement running of a 15 amp circuit. I haven't tripped the breaker and haven't had any problems. Well you can't go wrong with stacking them, you can get up to +6 dbs of gain or atleast try both options. I'm in the same situation as you. Once my 2nd sub gets here ill either have to stack them or place it apart about 9ft so I'm going to try both ways and see what happens. You'd def benefit in some way with a 2nd one plus it'll be fun to have a new toy!

I'd like them more if I had a sub...biggrin.gif...jk. Yeah...I like them a lot....in hindsight...I could've kept my Sierra 1 Nrt and upgraded to the soon to be released Sierra 2 upgrade. Although... I might be in the minority here but I'd take a well designed 3way Tower vs. that of an equally well built monitor....YMMV.
