Turn off dynamic eq. You have a mini dsp so why have it on?

I love DynEQ when listening at lower levels late at night when the wife is asleep....I don't think I could live without it unless you have some way of simulating it's effects with DSP??

Anyways, like I said, Dyn EQ has no bearing on these measurements....I measure at 0db MV.

Not Beeman, but I want to say congrats!!!!

I only have one XS30, so you will be incredible happy with two of these bad boys.

Report back as soon you receive them, post your initial impressions and don't forget to share tons of pictures.

Anyways yes I will definitely shout. I was currently with a trinity and reference but down to reference as of last night. I'm looking to match a pair of subs besides that trinity was very tall at 32". Probably won't see them for about 10 days

No setting...that's just how Dyn EQ works - no boost at 0 on the MV.

Tom estimates the XS 30 has a significant advantage over the SB13u between 20-100hz..when I listen to each individual sub...I notice the difference but when both are playing not as much!

I will say this when I listen more keenly in trying to hear their differences, the sb13 seems more defined or controlled and accentuates each note when playing the same source...the PSA on the other hand is not quite as detailed but it certainly plays with more oomph or impact and plays louder.

My guess here is because the power x driver in the XS30 is much more sensitive therefore needing less power to reach its full potential. I have tried to level match both subs to within 1-2dbs of each other to compensate with my RSM. By upping the gain control on the Svs & lowering the XS30... it helped them to remain level and sound balanced which will allows them to pressurize the room with less effort and not over extend the drive units.

I'll try and watch some movies...after my holidays that I have on tap....but for now...with certain music...the Svs definitely sound better because of its ability to define and play each note but some songs like "Sail" from AWOLNATION I like the xs30 ability to pound into my chest with authority. One of the reasons, I bought it....wink.gif.

Oh..btw...room is ~2700^ft or 20x15 with 9' ceilings...main floor is more than...double that. With both subs level matched closely...I'll use ARC to measure both...since it can only measure for 1 sub.

I do plan on measuring my room...but for now...I trust my REQ to handle any room correction. I do however plan on taking some quick measurements with my mic in place and see what scenario or placement locations work best...thus far.... the differences between the 2 subs is somewhat noticeable in certain cases & not so defined or obvious in others. The song Sail...I described above, is a good example of this...and why...I prefer the thump of the XS30.biggrin.gif

The SB13u is a loner from another member who was kind enough to offer it...to me. He has a high enough regard for Tom and PSA and though since I'm getting the XS30 why not compare it to his SB13...not exactly apples to apples...but we all know how good the ultra's units are! This should slow down or at the very least quite down...some of the skeptics...wink.gif.

Just get a volt meter from radio shack, set it to AC, take the black and red leads and stick them in the power outlet( one in each leg minus the field ground). Note how much voltage you currently have before running the Triax. Should be 115-120v AC. Now crank the Triax up and take another reading, if the voltage is dropping below 115v then your Triax amplifier is starving for power. Oh and make sure to test the outlet the Triax is plugged into.
jajajaja, i need to get a voltage meter, funny thing is i went to ratshack awhile ago to get me FIRST SPL Meter, but i ended up getting a multimeter, i felt so stupid.

Yeah the XS30 is a very nice sub!! I think, I'll listen to each sub individually for awhile and then switch & see how that goes...it's not so easy to distinguish them apart when both are playing and me sitting around 11' away at the LP.

Not with the XS30...I have watched a couple(Man Of Steel & OHF last weekend) with the Svs and it acquitted itself admirably...not that anybody should be surprised. Plenty of BRD on hand with tons of LFE....it should be a lot of fun..smile.gif

Congratulations! You're going love how your room comes alive with both XS30s working at the same time.

Sometime, early next year, we'll all be looking forward to your comments of what you think about "TWO" XS30s banging away in your room at the same time.

Welcome to the dual xs30 club. Yes I've only had one brief demo with mine. But after the new year my smile that hasn't come off my face since that demo will be bigger and bigger as the movies pass through the br player. Can't wait!!

Congrats. You are in for a treat!

Did a quick measure for both subs at the primary LP....distance is ~11.5'...it might be meaningless to some but I like how the XS30 works in the current location...my last sub showed a hump around 38hz as well but after I ran ARC...it pretty much spanked it down flat down to ~20hz...the XS30 should better that being a sealed design...smile.gif.

I'll continue to tinker but after the holidays...my wife is not to impressed with me right now...redface.gif But a guy must do, what he has to do...biggrin.gif

Hey Bill, I actually sold the PB13 almost a year ago. Too many subs for a 1750cubic foot family room, even for me.

Glad youre enjoying the new XS30,looks awesome. Reminds me of the Seaton SubM.

What program did you use for those measurements?

Btw, could you put the sb13 on the floor in the same spot and remeasure? Something looks off in the graph and im wondering if it is the fact that the sb13 is higher up.

Hi Steve: Here is a 6pt average with the SB13 on the floor prior to the XS30 arriving...before ARC

after ARC

So, yeah to answer your question the SB13 was on top...I'll redo again and post those measurements tomorrow.
Fwiw...that location just seems to work best for the front 3 seating positions...veer off to the right or left I develop a bad dip around 80-100hz.

I'd like to invest in something like the cross spectrum umik-1 down the road...but for now ARC is all I have and it does ok for my room.

Billy how do you like your Anthem with ARC? I just got the 510 and find that ARC was a huge step up from the Denon I had with Audyssey XT. Sound quality is fantastic.

I like it a lot...much better than the YPAO which came in my Yamaha rxv1800. The only drawback as I can see..it only calibrates the 1 sub...likely on par with Audyssey multi XT32 but the latter allows for more than one sub to measured...I would have like that about now...lol. I had to set the gain control manually with my RSM....they're pretty close though.

Suppose to be leaving this morn but with last nights ice storm the roads look pretty slick, around here....frown.gif

I will have to find it, but Bob in the Anthem thread posted a step by step procedure for setting up multiple subs for calibration.

I only have one xv15 and I'm going to most likely get another soon.

Be safe up there... It's around 80 here in South Florida :-)
