When I told him what other brands I was cross shopping, he never talked bad about them, and he even gave me advice within each manufacturer's model line that he thought would meet my needs if I decided against PSA.............Hell, we even talked Cleveland Browns football. That's my experience with Tom and PSA as a company, and it is equally as good as my experience with my XV15 during WOTW. cool.gif

My experience with Tom has been the same; both back in 2002/2003 when he was with SVS and more recently with PSA. smile.gif

From my questioning of Tom for the XS15 the base is purely aesthetical.

The base does look pretty freakin' sweet. Tom did say that the base can be purchased at a later date, something I'll likely do but will wait a little while to do so.

I don't mind doing pictures of an unboxing of the XS15 if it is something people would like to see (and isn't already in the forum - I haven't checked). I don't have much to compare it to audio wise besides a 10" Klipsch Newegg special so I'll leave that up to the knowledgeable folks around here.

here are my pics of my new duals:

i usually comment on the bass intense movies and demo scenes...but I want to now comment on how awesome the addition of a second sub is now making ALL movies that much more enjoyable.

Watched We're the Millers last night (hysterical movie BTW) and the bass was so even and just always brought a grin to my face...it makes normal movies like this awesome...the even smooth bass response can only be realized of its full potential by hearing it first hand...if your on the fence about getting duals..DO IT.its the biggest upgrade I have EVER made!!

No sound difference but it can help keep the sub from vibrating around on non-carpet floors. Only mentioning this because a few have ran into this with the non-base version. This easily can be solved by placing a piece of carpet or mat underneath it.

Brian, I am having second thoughts on adding 2 subs instead of just trying one first. What advantage does 2 bring? I don't want my movies so loud it hurts my ears, I don't play at reference levels. I just want to hear and feel every detail without it being super loud.

And that's EXACTLY what duals gives. Great bass without needing to be loud. It's great! Can't recommend it enough.

I cannot agree enough. You know you're good when you don't have to go loud to hear and feel the movie. I don't think anyone who had had two decent subs would ever go back to having only one sub, no matter how good that one sub might be.

No way...duals are a waste. You only need one sub if you are concerned about one listening position...rolleyes.gif :biggrin.gif

Going Duals, Triples, or Quads is about much more then just extra output.

1) multiples add clean headroom because they share the load which is equals cleaner more accurate bass.

2) multiples can smooth room modes, a single can not. So a single sub will need more EQ'ing to achieve a flat response, which degrades sound quality imo.

3) multiples will add more even bass coverage across the room.

4) multiples can reduce localization with higher crossover settings being the bass is delivered from different locations.

5) multiples just look plain badass. A single sub is so 90's lol.

I know I can throw whatever I want at those Dual 15H's and they'll still be there when the dust clears.

+1-I agree that dual subs are really nice. My dual XV15s sound really good with music. Watched History of the Eagles and the bonus disc of the 1977 Capital Centre concert sounded very good. It was really bass heavy and I had to turn if down.

So for only 2 seats going to duals wouldn't be a huge benefit it's more for a widespread? I'm sure it has it's advantages but I only care about 2 seats :)x really one seat hahha mind

2 subs can make a big difference to one seat. If there are dips in your room that you cant eliminate with one sub then by adding a 2nd one the right way you can achieve a smoother response by getting a more flat reading. it just depends on how bad your room will eat into one subs potential. you could always get one and use REW to find your best spot, then you can see if you need a 2nd sub.

its just one of those things where you have to atleast try one and see how your room reacts, then youll get a better idea. if you do pull the trigger on 2 subs then your pretty much golden as long as theyre are capable of your needs. either way you wont lose because with one you can always add a 2nd one later and with two youll def be fine.

I been looking for someone in my area that is a expert in the REW department so they could come over and take measurements for me. Hard to find good help at local audio stores here in Ohio.

Out of curiosity, have you tried duals and experienced the difference in sound quality, going from a one sub system to a two sub system?

The difference between a one sub system and a two sub system is night and day. With a one sub system, the bass is there, but it's not alive. With a two sub system, the bass envelops you, the sound stage increases in size and the room comes alive. The difference is radical and not subtle. There's no way I can encourage anybody to consider going with a single subwoofer system but I can encourage one to consider a two subwoofer system.

Allow me to encourage you to download a freeware copy of REW and get it up and running. It's a bit of a pain, but once up and running, you have the convenience of having REW for personal use to measure and dial in your existing system and when upgrading you can custom up the new additions.

I was never a believer how big a change going from one sub to two is. Everyone and I mean everyone recommends duals. I always thought since my single sub response was pretty darn flat I wouldn't notice as big a differnce. Well I was dead wrong. My FR pretty much stated the same but the bass is so enveloping and smooth and full. It's unreal. Like I said single biggest upgrade I have ever made. (Read as upgrade not purchase)

At this point, I'm wondering about troubles one might experience when dialing in an added third subwoofer. That's a third subwoofer in a separate, not stacked, location.
