All the ones I seen had "smashed corners". Not worth 500.00 if that is the case and a far cry from " scratch and dent". Subs with that kind of damage should be half price imo.

I agree 100%. Even if I had an acoustically transparent screen I wouldn't want that. I think it hurts the resale value too much.

Let me know what you think fresh. Did you go from dual XV15se to a single XS30se?

Yeah I'm getting a single for now.. We plan on buying a house within the next year .. and if we do I will have my own man cave. But the thing is it will most likely be <2k^ft or even smaller so after talking Tom a bit we decided the sealed would be the best option. Along with me listening to music more than movies now..

Stacking the sub will get you more tactile feel. The question is will it be enough or will you be back in the sub market down the road. It is a3- 6 db increase in spl properly calibrated into the system.

3db is noticeable and 6db is significant.

Indeed. I moved my XV15se subs from equal distances on either side of the entertainment center to stacked and corner loaded and DAAAANG! It was a significant difference. With only one sub you can hear the bass quite well. With two stacked, you can feel the bass.

3db is 50% more output, 6db is 100% more output. Take a spl meter, run your system up to the normal levels you listen, then back it down 3db acording to the spl meter. I bet you will notice a significant difference.

Aside from that, did you ever aquire measuring gear to see what the response looks like? You can keep adding subs till you are sitting on top of them but the sound may not improve at all if you are sitting in a null.

Well if you're sitting on it there's probably not much chance he'd have a null....lol

True but you know the point i was trying to make...stacking a pair of XS15's will add output but will not help smooth any modes. If cable guy wants harder hitting subs, adding another pair may not do much( in the mid bass region)if there is a room induced null at the LP. How often do we read about this same scenario on these forums, quite often I must say. It's pretty common to end up with a 80hz cancellation between the mains and subs which sucks out all the mid bass slam factor. Normally the deep bass region is never effected to the same degree. I am willing to wager if he invested in a mini dsp/umik-1setup, he could get those dual XS15's pounding to thier potential. After exhausting all placement and possible tweaks to further improve the response, then I would consider adding 2 more.

Well guys I just took the plunge into unknown territory, REW is downloaded and miniDSP and UMIK is on it's way. I'll be counting on you guys for all the help I can get. It's either going to be one of the best investments I made or some one will be getting a real good deal on a slightly used DSP and UMIK I ordered the 2.1 Advanced plug-in, correct choice? Thought so. I'm going the HDMI route and just messing around with REW and connected the HDMI to the front of my receiver and it recognized it right away, that's a big plus for me. Alan, Brian, BH and jbrown and all of you, expect some PMs. Help me get my two XS30SEs dialed in to see and hear what I'm missing so I can make the decision to get the third, I haven't decided yet. This is a giant step for me and I will be committed with your help. Once the subs are dialed in WE will be working on integrating them with the new PSA speakers. I wonder when it's going to be BBQ time in Mineral Ridge Ohio.....TOM? TIA to all.
Cheers Jeff

It took a bit, but I managed to sell off two smaller subs (10" Velodyne Impact 10, 10" Martin Logan 700W) and placed the order for an XS15SE with Tom this morning. Less than 3 hours and I've already got the shipping confirmation! I wish every vendor I dealt with shipped as promptly!

The one down side: the delivery is coming Tuesday, so I'm stuck with the Impact 10 (selling to a co-worker who's making payments) until then. That does, thankfully, give me some time to do a last sub crawl to try and confirm the best position for the XS15 when it arrives.

Huge thanks to Tom for patiently answering all my n00bish questions.
After some arm-twisting on FedEx, it's finally here and setup in my room! Unfortunately, my daughter's bedtime will preclude running a YPAO calibration, although I went ahead and zeroed out the FR adjustments I'd made for the older units and zeroed out the subwoofer trims. Come Friday, it's game on!

Thanks again Tom!

Jeff - REW has a learning curve for sure, but with our help I'm certain you'll be in a much better place in pretty short order.

P.S. WHY did you order that 3rd XS30 before you measured/tweaked the 2 you got?? You need to learn some patience, Grasshopper.
