awesome. I'm definitely hoping the new subs get tested by data-bass. I wish the old/current ones were tested as well but I'm guessing that's probably not going to happen now :/

Exciting times in the I.D. subwoofer world. Many companies are offering exciting new subs and this bodes very well for the growing industry. But if one owns an XS30, or the improved XS30se, one might be disappointed if they are expecting the S3000 series to be a night and day difference. Gee, 2 dB here, 2.5 dB there doesn't exactly have me pulling out the checkbook. After all, both of these earlier version subs haven't suddenly gotten so terrible that one kicks them to the curb .

2-2.5 db is a significant improvement. Aside from output, the increase in SQ and extension let alone being USA built make the upgrade worthwhile. I have never been a big fan of Bash amps. A few months back I remember telling Bear that if the XV15se had a better amp the extension would be better and gain a little more output. Looks like I was right...not taking away anything from the original subs because they were indeed a great value vs performance.

it doesn't make my current xv15se's horrible, but i like the idea of the added extension on the new models. had i known this update was coming i probably would have waited instead of doing the SE upgrade. but either way, i'm happy with my current subs....there is just always that what if eating away at my pocketbook.

Agree 100%...my SE subs are terrific! I actually prefer the down firing design over front with the grills. So Kudos to PSA for giving me the option to upgrade my Legacy model subs for yet a second time!!

I applaud these changes, basshead. As I stated, it's an exciting period going on right now. However, a "significant" difference? Let me know your feelings when you swap out the amps. Inquiring minds want to know.

Just curious how it's going to add 2-2.5dB more output? The amp you have now is rated 550watt, so doubling that to 1100watts would add 3dB would it not? The new amp is only a 175watt more power?

I completely agree its a better amp and I'm glad to see PSA move to it but I'm not sure I can see those kind of gains. Can you take before and after REW sweeps when you get the amp and install it?

b) The new V1500 will extend deeper an have about 1.5dB more clean output averaged from 16-100hz.
https://www.facebook.com/powersounda...79935965448442

So it seems like it will have 1.5db more ouput not 2-2.5. The S3000I is the sub with the biggest gain.

3) What type of performance improvements should we expect?
This is product specific.
a) The new S1500 will extend a slightly deeper and have about 1dB more clean output averaged from 16-100hz.
b) The new V1500 will extend deeper an have about 1.5dB more clean output averaged from 16-100hz.
c) The new S3000 will extend slightly deeper and have about 0.75dB more clean output averaged from 16-100hz.
d) The new S3000ii will extend slightly deeper and have about 3dB more clean output averaged from 16-100hz.
We will have all of our usual performance graphs for each model on the website asap.
4) What about the XV30Fse?
We are re-evaluating the XV30Fse.

Did I not mention already the V1500 was a 1.5db gain?????????? I was generally speaking in reference to Russells post about the XS30.

I will be swapping 1 amp to compare vs the others. If it's a noticeable difference and I feel the extra extension is worth it then I might proceed with upgrading all 3.

Bass I am very interested in reading your thoughts on the difference. I've read enough of your posts to know you are a straight shooter so I'm confident we will be able to get a good idea of just how different the amps are. I would also love to see some REW graphs on the difference as well so we can see what exactly is going on with the new amp as it plays in your room.

I read sometime in mid March somewhere but don't quote me on that, so much info flying around this past day it's hard to keep it all straight so I might be wrong.

What's with the 10 question marks. You didn't quote his post so I thought you were talking in regards to you swapping out your amp for the ICE power amp. Relax a little.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on the difference of the two amps too.

I have a feeling you will see a nice improvement in extension..I know the system is capable of it, as I basically forced some extra extension via the miniDSP on my XV15se's. The new amp undoubtedly has a roll-off at a lower frequency than what our versions have. Will be very interesting to see what you come up with. Be sure to do a single sub sweep before and after the amp swap in the same location.

Oh trust me I am relaxed...I do not take this hobby nearly as serious as some do.

The question marks mean I am surprised you missed the prior posts leading up to that post. I thought My previous posts were fairly clear when I mentioned the V1500 showing a 1.5db increase...and I also expressed that more output was not really a concern. So I figured it was not necessary to quote Russell because of that. He mentioned 2-2.5db is not a substantial increase in output generally speaking. Imo a 40% increase in output is substantial...that is all I was saying.

That being said I do plan on taking measurements of the ICE amp vs Bash. I will measure and post 1 sub before and after the amp swap w/ compression sweeps and showing how the room control function effects the response.

Well I was 99% sold on XS30se's until now. I'm thinking the V1500's will be perfect for me now. Love the deeper extension vs the XV15se. I Wonder what the V1500's tuning point is?

The standard finish and new grills are also a no go for me.....way too ugly (IMO of course) to put in my living room. Now if I had a dedicate space where I could hide them.......

It looks like with the new subwoofers wood veneer finish options are a thing of the past. I'm so glad I bought my Cordovan Cherry Triax when I did; pre order pricing and low wood veneer option cost.

Edit: Correction.....just saw this on an FAQ "...Will the new models be available in wood veneer in the future?
Yes, that is the plan. We will have availability and pricing up on the website asap."

But those grills..... (don't like the exposed driver look either)

It's an entirely new enclosure that maintains the external dimensions but increases effective internal volume about 9%. Two new SE drivers that have been optimized to the new ICE POWER amplifier(s), New grills and new metal grill guides, probably a few other improvements I'm forgetting.

So yeah, besides the enclosure, the drivers, the amp, the grills, etc....pretty much the same old same old...

We've had mixed feedback on the new grills. I'd say 1/3rd love em, a 1/3rd really don't care either way(many of these intend to run grill less), and 1/3rd prefer the original grill.

The S3000i and S3000 use different drivers.
