My only point with the pricing was that the two were so close in price, I couldn't see anyone "settling" for the non "Hulk" version. I see now that the S3000i is sort of at an introductory price. I guess if I end up deciding on that particular model, I hope I can do so before any price increase!

Thank you!
None taken. Remember the XS30se is available for $1249 and will be for quite some time hopefully. The S3000 adds a *little* more performance and another feature(room size control) at $1399. The S3000i adds a bit more output still....but at $1599.

I know its easy to creep up in budget but $350 is still $350. Think of it like this, you just won a $350 GC for amazon....go shopping. That can equal a TON of very cool toys..

Hmmm.... I hadn't given much thought to the room size control on the sealed models. Would it help the lack of room gain in an "open" room? Looking at the new Ice models, the V1500 has the most output 16-25 Hz correct?
Man this is so hard to decide! I'm starting to think I should stay offline until I pay off my receiver!

I would guess that the room size control works similar to the one on the T-18s, although it's just an on/off switch.

In Large Room mode, it boosts the low end, of course at the cost of headroom (not that you can tell with the T-18 ).

Hey guys I have what subwoofer cable would you guys recommend for running under an area rug? I would really like a cable that is thin as to not be "felt" or seen due to it being under a rug.

Does the distance from sub(s) to MLP have any impact on the lowest bass frequencies? In other words, if my room is open to other rooms but the actual size of the living room and the distance to the subs isn't that large, would I still get decent room gain? Just because my room is open, it's not all that big. Does that help at all or does just having any openings make all the difference?

You won't get any more "room gain" but you will benefit from the nearfield placement. The closer the subs are to the MLP, the louder they will be (more headroom) and the more tactile feeback you will get.

You can also see the amp in a sub woofer on any of the new product pages.

So right of the bat there are two cool things, the room compensation knob (for adjusting roll off for matching your room) and it looks like the phase knob is now a delay I assume it dose something similar to phase...
Correct. We changed the phase to a true time delay variable from 0 to 16ms. A true time delay is superior in this context as it keeps all frequencies "in phase" during adjustment. All modern AVRs use time delays in the digital domain for this reason.

Just another advantage to a custom DSP frontend..

I know there are "flat" cables out there but I don't have any experience with them personally. You might consider going wireless instead?
