Just to clarify, as it seems that some may have taken my post just a liiiiittle bit more serious than I had intended; I am not using the S3000i in my cubicle. And those are just some crappy speakers that were floating around the office. Mostly use them to listen to voicemails that are forwarded to my email inbox along with the occasional Spotify stream at very low levels.

I will hopefully get you all some more complete thoughts as I spend some more time with it in the coming days. Only got a few minutes with it in the theater space before my two year old son had to go to bed.

I used it for a couple of years when I had a Pioneer SC-05 as my AV receiver since MCACC does not EQ subwoofers. I had good results with it in my set up and never felt it neutered my sub. It is so simple to use and is a great option if you just want to basically plug and play!

MCACC didn't used to do sub eq but it does now. I have an SC-63 which has MCACC Advanced but they just recently added the sub EQ. MCACC Pro looks like it should EQ dual subs. Personally I would love to add a 2nd v1500 and jump the SC-85 with MCACC pro and Atmos

I just listened to a whole cd with my receiver set on Direct! D'OH! I was wondering why the bass wasn't impressing me.

This will get you in the ballpark, you can fine tune while measuring with REW for the smoothest response.

After you get the subs time-aligned with each other, you then run Audyssey (or whatever auto-EQ you have) then perform the sub distance tweak to get the sub "system" in-phase with the CC/main speakers.

I was under the impression that with subwoofer sound waves actually being longer than the room that it is desirable in a multi sub room to use delay to excite different room modes rather than time aligning the subs and getting max output at one listening position while not getting the benefit of more even response across all seats? Have I miss understood this phenomenon? If they are truly time aligned wouldn't I just be dealing with the same peaks and valleys in the response due to the room modes that are active?

Thanks for the information!

It is weird because most human voices are over 120Hz so there should be no loss of detail. I have been messing around with a 120Hz crossover for my mains and center, I get zero localization and no loss of detail from the speakers. The XV15's seem to play very well up to 120Hz!!

Yeah I agree, it was the deeper voices that didn't sound right to me though. They still sounded good, they were just missing a certain quality I have become accustomed to and enjoy.

This seems to be the minority though, most people seem to be loving the higher crossovers and I can see why.

Thanks!

I actually set up one sub last night. And WOW what a difference a small enclosed room makes. And that was not calibrated and only one xs30!

I could actually feel the pressure more than ever

Now that I finally have a subwoofer, I have played with the crossover as well. I thought since my mains have 10" subs that I would be fine with a lower crossover like 60Hz. Based on Tom's suggestion I started with a setting of 80Hz and it sounded great. Just out of curiosity, I changed it to 100Hz while listening to some music. WOW! I can't believe how much BETTER it sounds! I'm sure everyone's setup and taste will vary, but I still can't believe I like a high crossover given how good I thought my mains are at bass.

If you have this song try playing with the crossover while listening. Nine Inch Nails "I'm Looking Forward To Joining You, Finally" from The Fragile. Has some strong upper bass that made my mains resonate pretty badly until I changed the crossover from 80 to 100Hz.

I like 60hz crossover for TV(can't stand the rumble in voices), 80hz for BR movies, and 90hz for most music.

I was a little concerned with how I was going to get the 124lb S3000i container upstairs to the media room, but these actually made it MUCH easier for a buddy and me.

I did some messing around today with adding in my old sub with the new one to see if it would help my room situation. I ran a lot of sweeps experimenting with the delay and these were the best readings I got. Blueish line is single v1500 black is that with my old sub together.
