Tom is just awesome. I've got the original PSA-XV15, and I was hoping I would have a 2nd one by now, but buying a house and doing some project pretty much made that impossible lol. Unless, I could find someone who would like to trade my Outlaw monoblock amps for one.

Congrats on the house! Just make sure there aren't any inferior subs laying around...back when Tom was building monsters at SVS, there was one time when a PCi 25-31 arrived and went RIGHT after the little Paradigm PDR-8 that was sitting on the ground next to the TV. If I hadnt' been there to break it up, the 'digm would have been compltely devoured!

So, if the Y splitter adds 6db, does room correction need to be re run or will knocking the trim back 6db give similar results?

You could just dial back the sub trim 6db long as it does not put the sub too far in the negative range. I like to be in the -3 to 0 range after everything is said and done or else the subs do not like to turn on at lower volumes(auto on). Meaning I set the sub amp gains so Auto cal(Audyssey, Ypao, Mcacc, Dcac) sets the sub trim around -6, then I bump it up manually into the -3 to 0 range and that gives me plenty of adjustment for different source material without going into the + range and potentially clipping the signal at higher volumes.

So Alan was right! One sub up front. One in back left corner after audyssey is ruler flat to 7hz. I do have a small 5db null at around 78hz. But I'll try the sub tweak and add the minidsp to see what we can do.

Well I'm still playing around with my V1500 today while I await my new stand. One thing I have found out is when running Audyssey, if I stick to just 1 measurement i get much better bass. Perhaps this is because I only have one sub. Anyway I'm still playing around with it.
I am seriously thinking of ordering an XS30se to do a comparison while still within my 30 days of the V1500. After all I was originally going to go with XS30se's before the new models came out. I figured I might as well compare the two while I can.

I agree with basshead....if you can leave the MiniDSP out and fix that null with the distance tweak, do it. The less electronics in the chain, the better IMO.

When the AVR-4311 with XT32 first came out, we on the 4311 thread found that close spacing of the 8 measurements in and around MLP resulted in a much better results rather than spreading them out beyond the MLP. It may be worth trying.

Also, (in case you aren't already) using boom mic stand where you can more easily keep the mic at the same level plane for each measurement also will give you some benefits.

Thanks, this is one club I'm very happy to join! The S1500 is going into a room that is only about 1350 cf, so can't wait to get kicked in the head

That's exactly what Tom said...he said he wouldn't be surprised if I didn't like it as much as I liked my PB13 Ultra from a few years ago...that's high praise, but considering the source, Tom has never led me wrong

So originally I had a xv15. Was going to buy another but found a xs30se for 750. So I purchased that it will be here Monday.

Do you suggest keeping the xs30 nearfield or the xv15?

I ordered a mic and I am waiting for it still. Will be a rew first time for me

Always a good idea to keep the "lesser" of dual subs nearfield...in your case, the XV15.

The input gain with the new amps is a lot more sensitive than the old amps. So the Y splitter is a good idea on the old amps, but as you say, probably not necessary on the new ones.

Did you order a UMIK-1 as well? You've received a lot of suggestions about taking measurements to see how you're faring. For $75, it's absolutely a worthwhile investment!

The back scratch thing is a universal truth! Unfortunately, adding another sub will have to due for now. I just have too many other things I need to invest in at the moment.
