Heads-up for back orders.

We're building all the S1500s now. By end of day today we should be current on the S1500, V1500, and S3000i products.

We'll have the XS15se enclosures here tomorrow morning. By end of day tomorrow we'll be current on all XS15se,. XV15se and XS30se orders.

We also have several "Anti Mode" products on the way for evaluation. If they perform as well as expected we'll have them available on the website soon.

Oh, and the shirts are on the way too...

OH YES SHIRTS!

Curious to see your thoughts on the 2.0...that's the only one of their products that really works well for dual subs isn't it?

I use HDMI but I wouldn't be of much help because I had zero issues setting it up. It all just "worked" for me.

To me I'd rather not use Java..it didn't look like it would have the channel selection options but maybe it did. What AVR do you have? What version of windows?

I had to use Java because the laptop would not work using HDMI no matter what I tried. Java worked fine for me. You can get readings on all three front channels (which is all I care about) and you can measure your subs by themselves by unplugging your speakers.

Same here, I used Java until I got a laptop with HDMI out. Just use the headphone out on the laptop and run it to an input on the AVR. Use PLII to measure the center+sub, Stereo to measure the R/L+sub (unplug one of the speakers to measure each individually). All covered in the guide.

Hahah.

So last night after a few hours of trying to get REW working I tossed in the towel and put my Xv15 on my front stage and my xs30se behind my seats.

Plugged in tr audyssey mic and set them each to 73db. Then turned them both on to a combine of 77db and ran xt32.

Threw in Edge of tommorow opening scene at around 72 or 73 on my 818 and jesus I wonder if my baby's crib was shaking upstairs hahah

Try clicking the wrench on the ASIO control panel and see what's active, the wrench will have an X through it when you do this. Try clicking on your mic and then closing ASIO and REW and then reopening, you may have to do this several times, it can be a pain in the a$$. It will eventually work.

Off topic: @Alan , what do you think, I can get a new Onkyo 1010 for $950, a new Denon 4520 for $999 and a new Integra 60.5 for $999 with Panamax SP and also a new Integra 60.5 for $800 on Ebay. All of these units have XT32 and SUB EQ HT. What would you reco. Denon and Integra 60.5 are from AC4L, new Onkyo 1010 is from OneCall and the new Integra 60.5 from Ebay. I look forward to your's or anyone's reply as I need a new receiever. I have some outboard amps to sell soon. TIA

Just be careful with the ebay purchase and be sure the seller is authorized. If not, you have no warranty, if you decide to go that route.

Do the Onkyo's still have overheating issues that lead to chips burning up?

Just placed an order for dual S1500's. Should be a big upgrade from my Epik Legends (dual of those as well). Although they're good, they are lacking a bit in the low end "oomph" for music and even more so for movies. The subwoofers are definitely the weak link in my HT. Well, that should be changed pretty quick. :-)

I had the same problem with REW. No matter what I do, I just can't get it to work for Asio. It's either getting the output working or input working, but can't have both recognized.

I ended up using java. If you receiver has a USB stream feature, you can use that instead of using HDMI or the audio jack. That's what I end up doing and it's been working solid.

I think you're going to love the 1500s, I had the Legends and my amps got so hot you could fry an egg on them. Then trying to get a hold of CS was almost impossible, there's a reason that Epik is no longer. They were decent subs but as you say they did lack in the categories you mentioned. Remember what Tom said, it's not all about sheer output but quality output, you will notice the signature PSA sub sound and think to yourself now that's what I'm talking about.............

Cheers Jeff

Up to 2012 that has been an issue, they have a recall for those models affected with HDMI board failures, they will repair all models that have this issue until the year 2018. One good thing about Onkyo. The newer model years don't seem to suffer from those problems but they still put out some heat and I would reco a couple of 200mm fans to keep them cool.

I may just wait on the receiver as DTX was just announced with receivers coming out the latter part of this year. I've also been looking at some plug and play RC software (outboard) from DSPeaker anti-mode. This seems like a very viable option for dummies like me. Tells you what's going on and how to fix it with it's own software, no computer needed.

Jeff: If you go with the Onkyo and use your external amps heat should not be a problem.

Mike from what I recall it was just the design of the circuitry that would just cause the board to get really hot, which would cause some chips to fry. I don't think the AVR's amp was the cause of the issues. I could totally be wrong of course....lol

JB: You probably are right, but using external amps should reduce the overall heat of the unit. Onkyo puts out a great product for the price but we all know you get what you pay for. I fought tooth and nail with them in another forum about getting the 24fps bug fixed that effected my 818 and other models. Onkyo then released a firmware patch that fixed the bug after a year of denying it existed. My next Pre-amp or receiver is going to be a Marantz, I still own a Marantz SR18 receiver and I always liked the sound it produced.

Well Tom has received my V1500. Waiting to see if he finds anything wrong with it.

...and the neighbors ran screaming into the streets, as it was wheeled down the breezeway toward it's new home...

this seems good deal ... there is a personal promo email which frys sends out to people who have subscribed to it.. and it is making this denon receiver's final price to $499 + tax ( Denon AVR-X3100W )

Can someone please suggest if it would be better than my current yamaha rx-v575 ? I always think and have in mind that all the different settings and tests and calibrations that denon offers through audissey.. might be possible if I get this denon avr... also I have been hearing that DTS is a little better than Dolby.. which is what I see all in the yamaha receiver and no DTS option

need suggestions soon as the inventory might go out of stock soon

TIA

We're going to setup outside again today for a bunch of "nice to have" data sets for the website. I'll fit your V1500 in too MNC. Here is a list of what we want to get done today. If anyone has any requests, let me know and we'll see how much time we have. Most of these are re-checks but we will be able to take our time today(sunny, mid 60s, <10mph winds) and get some website quality graphs. Last time we were outside we had to hold two umbrellas over the setup!

1)XS15se versus S1500 FR comparison (one graph)
2)XS30se versus S3000i FR comparison (one graph)
3)XV15se versus V1500 FR comparison (one graph)
4)CEA-2010 on all SE models and all ICE models.
5)Compression on all ICE models.
6)CEA-2010, FR and compression on proto type 3.6
7)T-18 Compression
8)one ICE sub (maybe the S3000i) with acoustical measurements showing the room size control in action.

Oh, and for those obsessed with our weather and when we can measure outside...
