Just to be clear I started a new thread so people would know a new company is opening up.

I can't wait to see what PSA can do!

I'm really looking forward to see what Powersound has to offer. A solid entry level sub like the PB10nsd or STF-2 would be a great place to start.

Jim was if I remember correctly the engineer that did a lot of work with porting and amps. From what Tom said it seemed like he had worked with Jim for a long time.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to chime in and provide a little background info for those interested.

I started at SVS in 2001 as an assembler while working my way through college. In 2003 I received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science degree, with a major in Electrical Engineering Technology. This was about the same time I was promoted from assembler to R/D. My main responsibilities were system design and analysis. I took over as head of R/D in late 2007 when Tom left, and held that position until I resigned in March of 2008.

Oh, and I never worked for Toyota.

It's always nice to have another Jim...

So when do you peel back the cloak of secrecy and show us what you're working on? We won't tell anyone.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

We are making progress but, we can't release any information right now. Tom and I both have the same opinion about announcing a new product (or products), we won't make the announcement until we can offer specific details. That means when the orders have been placed and the product exists. We will never participate in vaporware.

Unfortunately, we will not be at CES.

The website is replete with announcements and products, but they're cleverly disguised as a blank page so as not to confuse anyone...

I look forward to seeing what PSA will bring to the table!

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Same here. I was hoping we would have something. But these things take time. and knowing Tom he won't let something he isn't happy with out for sale. And I know he mentioned PSA is trying not let information out until they are really ready.

Hi all,

We've recently signed off on the last major component(many thanks to Scott Atwell at Fi). This process took quite a bit longer than hoped, but the end result made it more than worth the time/effort. More info will soon follow regarding the PowerX line and its upcoming launch.

Hello Tom. I've been one of your followers for many years. Back before you and Ron started SVS. I remember you starting the Nousaine List, which is still around.

I was wondering if you and Jim Farina would have any interest in submitting your first subwoofer product to Josh Ricci who is doing some subwoofer testing for Audioholics. He seems to know how to conduct a meaningful test-review of subwoofers.

I can't say for certain whether Gene DellaSala would be inclined to accept your product for review, but the worst he can say is "not at this time."

I for one am looking forward to the release of your first product...

Thanks Tom.

PS - You were extremely helpful to me many years ago when I was shopping for a sub (my first ID dealer purchase ever; I was a bit nervous about it). I ended up purchasing the SVS 16-46PC+ and am still enjoying it very much today!

Fi is reasonably well known, yeah. They make what is generally regarded as the best infinite baffle driver for the money, the IB3. There have also been quite a few discussion threads about their SSD and Q series drivers, as these series provide for a reasonably inexpensive system that, with proper EQ and L/T circuitry, can perform well down into the last octave when used in multiples. However, they were tested by Ricci at www.data-bass.com and were perhaps...less impressive than expected, imho.

Another thing about Fi is that they are the build house for some ID sub manufacturers, which means that they likely produce quality and reliability. The problem is, their production has not been able to keep up with demand in the last year (for whatever reason, supply side or demand side), and they often take 6+weeks to deliver to consumers, and longer to deliver to vendors. Frequent missed delivery dates has plagued them, of late.

So, while Fi builds well-regarded drivers, they're not especially good at getting them to commercial customers or consumers in a timely manner. We'll see how it ends up for PSA, but I wish them the best of luck and hope to hear some of their products soon.

Hello, Yes I spent quite a bit of time with that back in the day. I'm glad we have much more comprehensive standards in place now.

Yes, absolutely. Jim and I both strongly believe in objective standards. In fact one of our tests for any proto type is to see how it compares to the competition based on the data from those reviewers mentioned above.

Scott(owner of Fi) and I have worked together on driver design many times over the last 12 years or so. He is one of the best in my opinion.
