Hi silo5,

You can order one of the original XV15s anytime, just email me. We'll have the link up for them in the near future...it just isn't near the top of our priority list at the moment. Price is $849 including shipping.

Ugh, my XV30F is sitting in a town 45 minutes away from me, it is 10:53AM and the shipping company isn't going to deliver until Monday morning...

You can often call and arrange to pick it up at the local hub. Of course you'll need a decent size vehicle.

I am really not interested in more output as mention in our emails, the xv15's nearfield have plenty of output. however the thought of pressurizing the room down into the single digits keep me thinking "what if".

Hey I have a question for you...I found a Rythmik FV15HP for sale at a decent price. How would this mate up with my XV15's? I really like the idea of keeping my current subs and adding another that digs a bit deeper. I would rather send more money your way, but I dont think a sealed sub would mate well with ported. Thoughts? At this point I am more or less thinking out loud, I am not really set buying anything, just pondering ideas as this hobby is very addicting lol.

That's tough to predict. The main issue is the dual porting seems to be 14hz and 20-21hz from what I can find. The Xv15 is right in the middle of those. I'm guessing you could get them to all work fairly well together though as the 15hp is a good design.

Yep, just called them. Think they said they'd had to call you in order for me to pick it up from the dock....

Hoping it can all happen quick since I have to work at 3pm today ( 4 hours)

Wow that Triad is really tempting me.

Especially since that American Cherry appears to match my SVS SB13+.

Any pics of the drivers?

Haven't been here in awhile and just noticed that the XV15's are now being sold without the base-plate. Any difference with or without it and are these 'newer' XV15's being made with newer/upgraded insides from the previous models?

You can still buy them with the base plate, but it is a special order and around $50 more.

There is no difference in performance and hardware remains the same.

Thanks for the reply Tom! I am not to serious about adding or upgrading. I really like the XV15's, its just the upgraditis bug biting lol. Hey I recieved my mini dsp today and did some eq'ing, what do you think of the graph? For some reason I lost about 2hz extension, but all in all not bad for 2hours worth of work and most of it was setup time/learning curve.

Were these all done in a room or are they based off of specs listed on manufacturer's sites?

it was mainly done to keep costs down since mdf went up 20%. the base plate is a extra 50.00 if you want it. other than that its the same sub internally.

My understanding from Tom was all the info was from what each manufacture has provided for people to see. Or third party measurements were used if they were available for each sub.
I don't think Tom and Jim went and bought each sub and then tested them.

Thanks!! The mini dsp is awsome, I highly recomend it. Still need to do some reading up on the other features with the crossover and octave slope. I think I am better off leaving that on bypass and stick with the avr crossover?

Yea I will continue to update as I learn more about it!!

Thanks!!

Here is my setup:

Laptop(Windows 7)
Dayton umm-6 usb mic
HDMI CABLE
REW
Mini DSP 2x4 2.1 Advanced rev.B
Usb cell charger for power from the wall or a 12v dc power supply with a 150ma min rating.

I tried a dc power supply and got nasty hum, so its currently hooked via usb cell charger and its nice and quiet!

There is a slight learning curve, but what is awsome is the ability to make eq adjustments on the fly. You can connect to the Mini DSP via USB, connect the Dayton mic via usb, then use the hdmi out to the AVR aux. open REW and Mini DSP 2.1 programs, measure with REW, copy measurement to the Mini(or keep both windows open and eyeball it), then make necessary adjustments and remeasure with REW etc...pretty awsome stuff! I performed roughly 30 measurements and eq adjustments in a hour.

I finally got it out of the box and all hooked up I need to redo setup etc once I get time this weekend but a quick and dirty setup with Audyssey has me impressed.

The XS15 smokes my old H100 not that it is a shock they are not in the same ball park. I would go with calling it very tight as you get all the low stuff you are supposed to but it isn't boomy or overwhelming. Only played with a few movie scenes and TV shows nothing to really stress it yet. I will play with it more today and get it setup just right.

Very happy with the choice and glad to support a company in Ohio.

If hooked up to a laptop that's not plugged in, it's because the laptop has an "independent," battery supplied, power supply. Once hooked up to a generalized, independent power supply like a battery, it's a different grounding situation. Just saying.

IIRC, you mentioned two situations. One where the miniDSP was plugged into the USB port and one where the DSP was plugged into the wall outlet, hence why one situation has a ground loop issue and the other doesn't.

Which raises the question: does the miniDSP have flash memory that allows for holding programming information?

Commenting on that which I'm sure you're aware of, anytime, anything is connected to house wiring, if not using the same "outlet," to various degrees, a ground loop can develop. This applies, even if using the same circuit breaker but a different, same-said, down-the-line outlet.

FYI.....if two audio appliances, are on the same equipment rack, and electrically, they're connected, a ground-loop condition can appear. It really is that esoteric.
