Don't feel bad. There are details with Audyssey and AVR settings I don't even understand completely. Things are magnitudes more complicated than they were just 5 years ago.

discovered this last night watching Titan AE. I've been using +10db boost to my subs. Watched a movie late last night so had the volume down and enabled Dyn EQ... bass was way too strong. I think since I like to watch movies really loud when wife is gone and have to lower volumes when she goes to bed, there is no longer such thing as set and forget.

I've resigned myself to making adjustments for every movie/song/tv show there is. It's like some movies the center channel is nonexistent and others it's screaming. Some content the sub is way too loud and others it's just right. You pay the price for being picky.

Just ordered an XV15se to replace my now deceased Epik Empire. I did a ton of research between Rythmik, HSU, SVS and PSU. I cannot wait to get this beast!

Nice same thing I did with the Epik, and same thing I will do with this new one. Really helped with the WAF

Now if I could just convince her that we need a second $900 end table...

Well, technically it would be a $799 end table as the second unit is discounted $100 if you purchase it within one year of the initial purchase. I would wait until you get the first dialed in before thinking of adding a second though. The XV15se may surprise you.

Oh I see how it is...now there is a 100.00 credit for each additional instead of 44.00.

I have been doing the same thing, and I just realized I had them misconfigured a bit. Sounded amazing even before, but now I enjoy them even more. I have always been a 100% HT kinda guy, but these xv15se's have gotten me into music recently.

Like you said, they just keep getting better and better. I was listening to some music this morning, and got so into it I was 20 minutes late to work.... Yikes

SOP is 1 = full price, 2 = dual discount pricing, 3 = 5% returning customer discount.

So if someone buys three XV15se, 1 = $899, 2 = $799(which mean # 1=2 = $1698 aka "dual discount pricing"), 3 = $854.

If we can dig a little deeper in certain circumstances we do. The discount on your third unit was much more than $44 btw. (check your emails from july 2013).

Listen to Tom indeed. Once you buy two you will wonder what four sounds like (this is my current struggle). The after that you'll wonder about xv30's or the Triax - it never ends.

Duals almost always offer audible benefits. I try to keep expenses to the minimum that will meet someone's expectations so I will often steer folks to a single unit even though duals would offer benefits in most/all cases. The way I figure it is....they can always add a second (within a year) and still get the same overall pricing..

It's been a long 2 days of mulling things over ( I was down to the SB13 ultra and Rythmik F15HP) but happy to say my XV15se has been ordered ( thanks Tom for your insight I have my work cut out for me as I'll be attempting to smooth out things as max spl is not the objective, I still have my KK DXD12012 in the front corner of my room and I'm about to order a mic for REW, I'm currently using a Marantz 8801 for my front end and the room is treated as well and has a great balance as is but dual subs have always been the goal. I'm hoping the reports you guys have been giving on the SQ of the XV15se are indeed true and must admit I'm excited about the prospects. Any tips are greatly appreciated !

It's not the cheapest alternative but the UMIK-1 is one of the more accurate (especially if you buy a calibrated mic from Cross Spectrum), plug and play mics available.

I officially joined the PSA (extended) family. I'm helping my parents build a home theater system. I supplied them a Denon AVR and Def Tech speakers (spare equipment I had laying around). Only thing they needed was a sub. Ordered a XV15SE. No surprise, Tom was awesome throughout the process. And the shipping cost to Hawaii was very reasonable. Can't wait to dial it in for the family back home. Will post my impressions.

There's definitely a learning curve with REW. The UMIK is supposed to be one of the easier mics to integrate. If the software recognizes it, you maybe have 5-6 steps to complete before taking measurements -- there's a tutorial on their website. For me, there was something wrong with my laptop's audio drivers so I had to find a work around which took me a while to sort out.

You might check with Cross Spectrum to see if they have the UMIK in stock. They are located in the U.S.
