Guys,
I have just ordered this Klipsch SW 310 from Newegg bundle (great deal I think). Anyone here has this Sub? It is shown retail for $999 at NE, so how is it compared to those in same price range or those of HSU VTF2.4, Klipsch RW-12D? Thanks so much.

I returned it for the SW 310 Klipsch sub, Denon 2312, etc... bundle special from NE. I like the RW12-d but could not pass up this bundle deal. I just hope i ll like this SW310 sub as it is suppose to be better for $999 retail price.

That bundle looks to have been a fantastic deal. I think the cheapest you can get that Denon receiver for right now is $700. Then with the Micros and the blu-ray player, you essentially got the sub for free.

Exactly why i ordered. I am currenly at Frys checking it out. It does not have the output as the RW12-D. Frys has it for $1049!!! I dont know why one would spend money at the Brick and Motor store nowsaday. I got the Denon 2312: $849 retail, 5 Energy Micro speakers: $399, Samsung Bluray: $99 and this Klipsch SW310: $1049 at Frys all for $999 shipped

I wont have the RW12 to compare when I get the SW310. From memory, the SW310 I listened at Frys did not have as much out put as the RW12. I had the SW310 cranked to the max and did not feel it punched as the RW12 but it did not distort, just clean deep bass. Beside from NE bundle deal, the smaller size SW310 sub works better for me as it will be placed behind my plasma, and component shelf in a square hole that is only 28" deep. Honestly, if size does not matter, the RW12 would be my take. Like I said, it is a bargain for the NE bundle I got and I could not pass it up.

I got the SW-311 its bigger brother for $799 from Newegg.com last fall. I think it's a good sub, but it's also my first standalone subwoofer purchase (vs HTIB subs), so I can't compare too much.

However, $999 is not a good price for the SW-310, considering I got mine for $200 less

Reread the post- he got an AVR, 5 speakers, blu-ray player AND sub for $999 including shipping. I "think" he got a better deal than you.

Considering the Klipsch SW 310 sells for over $700 on Amazon, I'd sell it (unopened) as soon as you get it, and buy an SVS PB13-NSD instead, which will wipe the floor with that Klipsch sub. Only cost a smidge more, unless you're lucky selling the Klipsch, in which case you might even get an even swap.

That's an incredible deal you found. Wish I had a spare $1k laying around, I could probably sell off the parts and make some money!

Oops...
Still though, I got my sub at 50% the cost, especially after the Klipsch price increase. $1600->$800. That's pretty good. Plus, I only had to purchase a sub, and nothing else.

Oh, and Denon has like among the most anemic, overrated amplifier power ratings, IMO.

Klipsch subs are a ripoff at their full price, but they aren't bad at all, especially if you are looking for a smaller enclosure and you get a good deal. I think some of the things that make it cost higher though is the use of 2 passive radiators, so instead just one woofer and hole w/tube (cheap), you have 3 woofers. Basically your's is like mine, but I got an extra 100W in the amp (RMS)

Another interesting thing is the surrounds are actually inverted on the SW-311 and SW-310.

Yeah. About half the home theater receivers out there, across all brands, are overrated But the previous Denon model, the 2311CI does OK. I think he definitely got a better deal than your SW-311.

I can't speak for the 2012 models... but actual measurements of previous Denon AVR's would argue otherwise, especially with 5 or 7 channels driven.

From memory, the Rw12 definitely has more output and punch compare to the SW310 due to a bigger woofer and encloser. The SW310 works better for me as my sub needs to be in behind my TV which sits in a rectangular hole in my house. The RW12 does not fit in this area (I thought it would). As i mentioned earlier, If size does not matter, Rw12 would be my take over the Sw310 (best sub for $299 right now IMO). Don't know how Klipsch lists the SW310 higher/more expensive than the rw12. Perhaps, The Sw310 seems to have a better finish with three 10" drivers and a better finish. My HSU vtf2.3 is definitely better than the rw12 (deeper, louder, and cleaner) but not twice as good consider it costs around $600.
I definity got a much much better deal than hce considering the Denon 2312 alone is going for $700 or more. Best of all, I sold the Energy Micro that I got from this $999 bundle for $200, so at the end I paid $799 for Denon 2312, Klipsch Sw310, samsung bluray player. Consider this as a bargain of the decade. To me, $799 for the Sw311 is a ripped off (no offense here) as one can get a much much better sub from Hsu, svs, Epik,Outlaw, etc... for that price.
Regarding the Denon Amp power, Hometheater just reviewed the Denon 1612 and said 'Denon's rating of 75W/channel is actually quite conservative'. It was measured at 71W/ channel with 5ch driven.
Happy listenning

that's good it fit were you need it to, i think klipsch sub's aren't worth the MSRP price, but yea for 300 the RW-12D rocks that's why i got two of them, i feel like i want to get more "Maybe I'm crazy". I'm glad your happy with your purchase.

What receiver and speakers do you have? Depends on what you have, your room size, your two RW12s should be plenty. Are they not? Perhaps upgrade your other equipment. I learn from avsforum for the last 12 yrs, no matter how much you spend, there will be always something better but to get 1% better, one has to spend alot more (twice as much sometime). This is a great but dangerous forum, you know what i mean.

I had a SW-115 and traded it in for the SW-310. The 310 blows it out of the water! It's faster and much more even. The NE deal was good but my guy over at Theater Xtreme in Draper, UT beat the pants off it. Ask for the owner, he'll hook you up!

Really? You traded your 15 inches sub for a 10 inches (x3) SW310? I sold my SW310 after a few weeks and bought the SVS SB12-NSD. I only bought the SW310 as it was a very good package deal but this sub in my room sucks. Funny, we all have difeerent opinion on the same sub in a different room.

So a 13" cube with a single 10" driver and two radiators (bass reflex design much like a ported enclosure) that rolls of 6hz higher per Klipsch and has the same rms power as the larger 15" is better. So what does faster and more even mean exactly?

Here are your other posts:

"Epson 6010's have been on back order forever but I just went over to my local shop (Theater Xtreme in Draper) and they had 12 of them sitting there. Got a good price and great advice."

"I just got my Epson 6010 from Theater Design Cente"r in UT for $3400!!!"

So i guess I should ask for Marshall when I get to the store.rolleyes.gif

What level do you have the Subwoofer out set to on your receiver for the SW-310? I set mine at 0db per the instructions from klipsch and turned the gain all the way up and it is barely audible. I was told that because it is a digital amplifier the signal out of the receiver needs to be set higher (+3 or +4 db) so that it receives a strong enough signal. I am going to try that tonight but was just wondering if that is the case for this subwoofer/digitally amplified subwoofers. The old sony subwoofer i have is shaking the walls with these same settings (8in 100W RMS) so I was a bit concerned that something is wrong with the sub itself. Thanks for the help if any of you know.

Sounds like something is wrong with the sub or the cable or the hookup etc....

The SW310 is fairly robust for its size. It should have WAY more output than the 8" Sony.

I have a similar in design sub (Deft Tech supercube). My avr is set to -2db and the gain (digital on mine) rarely ever goes past 15 on a scale of 0-40.
