Does anyone know the size of the drivers in the new 8000 from Def Tech?

posted from SoundStageGlobal's CES2012 coverage:

"Definitive Technology’s new SuperCube 8000 subwoofer has a feature that we wish more subwoofers had: a large front display that shows the status when it's being adjusted via its remote control. There is an 11" front-mounted driver powered by a 1500W digital-tracking amplifier, along with two side-mounted 12” passive radiators."

Thanks...I was hoping it was the replacement for the Reference. I guess I'll continue my search.

Yes. The SuperCube 8000 will be priced at $1,500 and as with the SC 4000, and SC 6000, includes a remote control.

The SuperCube Reference has a larger driver and larger passive radiators and you don't pay for the remote control and associated circuitry in the SC 8000.

I happen to like subwoofers with remote controls, however, many times you pay a premium for remote. Over the years people on this forum have not been very enthusiastic about remote control subs since they can control the subwoofer with their AVR. I gather that people would rather have the money go to basic design and construction. In other words, they would rather have better drivers, beefier amps, cross-braced cabinets than remote control and associated circuitry.

The SuperCube 8000 should be a good performer with the 11 inch driver, dual 12 inch passive radiators, and 1500 watt amp, however, competition at $1,500 would be pretty strong. Subs like the SVS SB-13 Plus and HSU ULS-15 come to mind if size is the major limitation. Of course if one has room for a larger sub, there are numerous high performance subs at the $1,500 price point.
