You find a single e112 sufficient for 11,000 ft^3?! I'd love to see the look on your face with a setup more appropriately sized. You'd probably think there was an earthquake or something.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Very difficult room to get adequate bass for movies in a room like this, or at least the type of bass that us bass freaks on the forums gravitate to. There was no way my wife would allow me to put in the appropriate amount of subs in our living room that would be needed.

For music The e112 sounds amazing. Very tight, accurate and has plenty of punch to it.

As far as movies, it definitely makes its presence known. It will shake my house, and you can most definitely feel it, however due to the size if my room, it doesn't give you that intense feeling of being punched in the chest, or vibrating your pant legs or anything like that.

If you are going for accurate, amazing sound quality, able to provide some punch when called upon, and in a compact form factor they are great. Due to WAF I couldn't go much bigger than one of these. I am 100% happy with mine and will buy another one for my dedicated room in the future. They are very high quality, powerful, and built in the U.S. as well.
Thanks for the input jsc79. It's good to hear someone with just one of these sing it's praises. It seems like an awesome sub, and I don't need to rock the house. I actually would prefer to avoid that. And I love the fact that it's built in the US. It probably makes sense to start with 1 and see if I feel like I need another. I've got a couple months to decide. Not sure if I'll do that, or stretch the budget a bit, start with two, and never look back (until I get a dedicated room). This is very helpful to hear, though.

I wouldnt say it is 100% sufficient, but it does sound pretty dang nice! I don't think I could afford the amount of sub it would take to pressurize this space.

I'm extremely limited with what I can do in our main and only living room due to wife restrictions. It is either one small sub or none. once we finish the basement I have free reign.

I can't imagine what the rooms of some fellow forum members sound like! I just have a 2.1 with some Sierra 2's. For now I just live vicariously through the people on this forum.

On another note, the e112 is still a fantastic subwoofer.

Well, if you were only able to negotiate one sub you certain chose wisely. I really enjoyed the e112 myself.

One of my E110s has gone bad. It makes a buzzing sound around twice per second whether it has input or not. The buzzing slows before stopping when power is turned off, suggesting a blown capacitor, perhaps.

Sigh! Not looking forward to shipping it 3000 miles to Florida. All sympathy accepted.

Can't they just send you an amp for a user install?

I don't know. It's after hours in the east, so I haven't called them yet, I only have a call in to my dealer here in CA. Is this something they actually do?

It's something the internet direct sellers do. I wouldn't want to pay shipping for the whole sub back and forth across the country. I'm guessing if it's not a user installed piece then your dealer should be able to do it.

Good luck.

+1

JL Audio makes premium products so I assume the service would be as well. Is it still under warranty?

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Yes, only 10 months into the 3 year warranty. We shall see.

So far, it appears to be a less than "premium" solution. At least the sub is only going to Arizona, not Florida. But they're not going to cross-ship me a new one. According to my dealer, JL is going to gut the old one, replacing both amp and driver. The belief is that JL had some issues with some subs, but I don't have any details. Now I will just have to wait and see whether my other E110 goes bad.

That's not too bad IMO. I would take that over it getting repaired. At least you will be pretty much getting back a brand new unit minus the cabinet. The downfall is a little downtime, which would suck.

Ideally , like you mentioned, a new unit cross-shipped would have been optimal.

Did JL pick up the shipping costs?

I got my E110 back today. I didn't have to pay any shipping, but I was without my sub for 3 weeks, most of which was shipping time.

My previous information that JL was simply going to drop in a whole new amp turned out not to be the case. The paperwork said they found and replaced 3 defective components in the amp: a 50K ohm potentiometer, an FDP2572 MOSFET, and an IRS20124SPBF digital audio driver chip. I'm no electronics expert, but I wonder how a pot can go bad and why there's anything digital in a sub's amp.

In any event, it's back, it works, and it didn't cost me a dime. Now I just have to go re-run Audyssey... again...

Reminder to all: save your equipment boxes!

Happy to hear you got it back and are up and running. Also nice that there was no shipping charges. That's the way it should be for all warranty work, in my opinion.
