Depends on the power you intend to send to it; if you're never going to use it at half-power even, will you really lose all that much...?

Damn it Jim, I'm a physicist, not an engineer!

The Captivator S subwoofers are starting to ship this week. I have a few going out tomorrow.

There aren't any plans for a "S" 1000 model.

The lowpass is fixed and I hadn't planned on making the lowpass defeatable. The xlr input is the only input and the only input available however rca to xlr adapters are very common.

Looking forward to mine!

Does anyone here use a crossover over 100hz? And any particular reason? I wouldn't go over 80hz myself, even with dual subs.

Sorry, just one. It's here, and I am going to give it a little run soon. Waiting on another big delivery in the next few weeks.

T8-LP LCR and Slanted 8 surrounds. Actually, not really big as far as a JTR setup, but all I can fit in my room.

Sub E (JTR Cap Sealed) - Orbit Shifter, Orbit Shifter, Cap Sealed, Orbit Shifter, CHT 18.T, Orbit Shifter, DIY, Orbit Shifter

Actually they thought it was the Orbit Shifter which is a horn sub and was the largest in attendance. We got quite the chuckle at the time that they thought the smallest was the largest!

Congratulations cal87, that looks to be a pretty sweet setup you are putting together there. Looking forward to your impressions.

Wow dual 18" 4000 watt S2, Jeff has really been in top gear lately with redesign of the ported cap and orbit shifter, and now has the Cap S and S2 sealed products. Very nice!

I suspect anything is possible. Just like with the custom finishes, Jeff seems like a guy who goes the extra mile for a paying customer.

Right, I was actually wondering what cal87 thought of his new sub. I should have quoted!

He definitely does, but when I asked him about the possibility of passive S2's, he said "Probably not." That actually makes a lot of sense to me, tbh.

I agree with you, it won't happen as a production model but "probably not" doesn't sound like a iron clad "No way". As with everything in business, money talks. If it makes good financial sense to Jeff, I suspect he'd do it as maybe a one or two off type deal. I for one am very excited for these (powered) to hit the market. If the single Captivator S scored the highest overall score in the blind KC test, the Cap S2 should be just INSANE!! I bet it would hurt some big name ego's to have the Captivator S2 go head to head with the Wilson Audio Thor's Hammer or JL Audio Gotham in a performance comparison.

While I completely agree regarding Jeff, with sealed subs there usually needs to be some fine tuning in the form of EQ to get the optimal sound for the given design. Completely different than with most ported designs. Which I am pretty sure is the reason why Jeff may be a little reluctant to sell a passive version.
But who knows, money talks.....

Exactly, and those capable with and own eq may appreciate that option...
