From the e-mail, "Was just checking on availability from Klipsch. The order less the subwoofer does not make the package deal pricing or freight." Then goes on to ask for wiggle room on pricing and offers those other Klipsch subs and pricing in place of the LV12R. I am offered roughly a $49-$79 discount each speaker and a discount on receiver. Also, that without the subwoofer this will increase costs to him.

I would go through the AV Science store, they will give you a great deal on Klipsch speakers, stick with the Rythmik sub.

Why do you want to go with Klipsch speakers? There are a lot of other reputable speaker company that are just as good or better than Klipsch such as HTD, HSU, Arx, EmpTek and even Polk audio RTiA and LSi line. Polk Audio lets you do payments if you go through them.

I liked the sound of them personally, but I am not trying to second guess my whole setup. From what I am getting stick with the LV12R, I will attempt to make an arrangement to make the deal go through without sacrificing the LV12R.

Everything associated to HT is a matter of personal preference, so if the Klipsch speakers work for you then that's what you should get. The whole "take it or leave it" concept is a bit confusing to me though, so you may have to go someplace else to get the speakers you want. Have you considered Acoustic Sound Design by chance? They sell Klipsch, so you may be able to get what you want from them as well. If so, you would be free to get the subwoofer of your choosing.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

What is being left out of all the responses is that you are also getting a receiver. Unless you are getting a really good deal on the receiver with that package you may want to go elsewhere.

The receiver is discounted $150. I did mention a receiver discount in post #2162.

In negotiations now. They are up in arms over freight costs incurred by Klipsch without the subwoofer as part of the speaker package.

I agree. Total discount is sitting $295-$326 including the receiver which isn't much, I am not sure what dealer pricing is but it can't be that high? Anyway the receiver isn't coming from Klipsch so I guess they want to make up margin there too.

Tell those guys you have to think about it. Contact acousticsounddesign.com and see what AVS can do for you.
Also I suggest you start a new thread in the Speaker forum. We have already hijacked this one far too much.

Hey Jim, I was reading on another thread that you were reviewing the sub-1200. Any timeline on when you will be posting? I'm looking to buy 2 new end tables and it would be between the OSD PS12 or the SUB 1200. I know you really liked the OSD PS10 so I'm assuming that the PS12 would be has good but enhanced.

Looking forward for the review

Cheers

When I hear 'end tables' I get a vision in my head of something a lot larger than either the SUB-1200 or the PS12, so unless I'm missing something I'm not sure either will satisfy your needs (meaning, they aren't large enough to be classified as a table). Either way... I can at least tell you this much; the SUB-1200 is worth a lot more than the $109 it's being sold for. It's not going to dislodge your fillings, but it's capable of more than the selling price suggests.

As I type this I'm watching Monday Night Football with a 3.1 system that consists of the SUB-1200 and 3 speakers that cost less than $350, so all told this setup isn't even $500 (sub and speakers). And quite frankly, it sounds waaaay better than you might think it should/would. There are some very inexpensive products on the market now, ones that don't compromise sound quality for low price, and I'm simply loving it.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Thanks Jim. By "end table" I mean just something to put beer and popcorn, no lamps or picture frames or anything permanent on. Or possibly something to fit under a traditional table, not sure yet.

Thanks for the info, I can get the ps12 for less at my door then the sub 1200. I'll wait for your official review and then decide.

Cheers

Is that for a new PS12?? I think the lowest I ever say them for was like $250. If you're getting it for under a $100 that's pretty darn good. You might want to see if it has a serial number... wink.gif

lol, I'll check! No, it's because of shipping. 2 PS 12 for slightly under $250 with free delivery as it is shipped and sold from Amazon.ca. The Daytons are slightly under $200 but add another $280ish for delivery and duty as it is sold and shipped from some other company through Amazon.ca. Even if I order directly from P.A. it comes to the same. At the end, the PS12 are about $160 less at my door.

As I said, judging by your impression of the PS10, seems like the PS12 would be ok for that nearfield rumble without resorting to transducers (which I would love, not so much my tender half). It's all about compromises

For that price I'd say go for the PS12's. If they're tuned like the PS10 was they will have a noticeable presence in the mid-bass region, so they should provide the nearfield rumble you seek.

I'm lost when it comes to finding a proper sub, so hopefully I've found my way enough to be posting this in the right area. Pretty standard request here.

Here is my room (don't hate on the paint drawing)

My current setup comprises of...
Yamaha RX-V673
(2, front) Klipsch KF-28
(2, rear) Klipsch KB-15
(1, center) Klipsch KC-25

1. Budget - $250-$300ish. Unless I can be convinced otherwise.

2. No size limit, but I would prefer something that isn't the biggest item out there.

3. 17*18 with 12' vaulted ceilings. There are openings in all 4 corners that lead to a room/hallway

4. 80% movies/TV. 15% music. 5% gaming. These are at least the order I want the sub to shine.

5. I won't be blowing any ear drums out. So listening at a slightly above average level is probably what will happen most often.

6. Something dark preferably.

7. Pretty soon. I have everything and would love to be able to go to a store and pick it up. Unless it's available via Amazon so I can use my Prime to get it here.

'brown thing is couch'? smiley-laughing013.gif That one made me laugh.

Your room is roughly 3000 ft^3, so it's a pretty decent size. If movies are your main priority -- and you prefer to listen on the loud side -- then a SUB-1500 is probably a good option to consider. It's on sale now too.

I need to change my max size. Didn't realize how limited I was on room until I hooked up my new KF-28 towers. Will definitely need something more compact. So the sub-1500 is out. I'm in trouble enough as it is with the massive towers eek.gif

It's pretty limited space. I have about 24" between my speaker and TV stand, and about 28" between the back wall and the front of the TV stand which it can't come past.

I may need to do some re-arranging. I haven't done any research on sub placement yet. Either way the space is going to be just as limited. Don't mind the clutter. The bookshelf speaker and blu ray player aren't staying there obviously.

At less than 20" cubed, how would the SUB-1500 not fit in a 24"x28" space?

Oh it will fit, but the old lady wasn't too happy with the massive towers as it is. Trying to avoid a huge sub just because of the appearance. I should have clarified it was a woman issue and not an actual space issue frown.gif . Something around 14x14x14 would be better than the 1500's 18-3/4" H x 18" W x 19" D.

I'll have to find some similar sized boxes laying around and see what she thinks. *whipped*.

Can the sub that close to the TV stand and receiver affect performance at all?
