Thats why I chose it. I was actually debating more between the LV12 and the SB2000. If I had to wait any longer Id have the SB2000 now. I nearly got it a couple of times but its a farly big difference in money.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

I would place the LV12 inbetween the PB-1000 and the NSD.

The more I think about it, I may want to add another in the near future.  The fact that the NSD is being phased out is a major factor.

That warranty really is something though...

Nice, I greatly value accuracy and extension.  How would they compare in regards to the latter?

I'm not the type that's too concerned with max output and obsessing over the extremes...

Hmm, I wonder if the budget thread is the best place for this..

So far I am quite happy with my under $250 investment. I will post further once I have some time to play with placement and do some serious evaluation.

I await your full review as this is the solution I may be leaning toward as well.

If you have some flexibility, this article covers a few of the easiest options: http://www.aperionaudio.com/blog/dual-subwoofers-for-your-home-theater

The 1/4 wall approach is the best for a rectangular room as it will do a great job of smoothing out the horizontal modes, so the left/right response will be quite consistent. If you want to do one front, one back, you can still aim for that (for example, one sub up front 1/4 width in from the left wall, and the other sub behind you 1/4 width in from the right wall. Then you get some benefit in width mode reduction, as well as length modes.

Very good article! Lots of great info there. Thanks!

My room setup is very odd (TV in the corner, etc) so I don't know exactly how it's going to go if I take the plunge on dual subs. I'll probably just end up moving them all over the room to find the best sound and hoping to god they don't end up sitting somewhere completely inconvenient to life when I find the sweet spot.

Here is a few deals on subs you might be interested.

Outlaw M8 is on sale at 250 and klipsch sub 12 is 200 at frys. I do not know the difference b/w 12hg. Dayton Sub 1200 is going to be on sale in a week or so at 110.

Got mine from Parts Express. Ordered on Christmas Day eve and came in about a week which might be quicker now since not holiday crush. Double boxed to boot!

I'm looking for some help with deciding on a new sub. Right now the budget will not allow for a high end sub so here is what I am thinking. Right now the Pioneer MK2 is on sale for $99. Would 2 of these, 2 of the Dayton 1200, or a single Bic f12 sound better? The room is 15x12. The subs will be paired with the Pioneer Andrew Jones line of speakers, not sure about a receiver yet.

Any input is welcome!

I used Pioneer sw8mk2 in a living room sized 12*13. It sounded smooth and natural but not loud enough even if I am not looking for room shaking experience. The next subwoofer was Prosub 1000 of Definitive Technology. I got this for 360 and it was powerful and loud enough with 20% gain. If you are not care about low extension, it sounds great. I returned this one, too, and looking for a new sub among Outlaw M8, Klipsch Sub 12 and Dayton Sub 1200. It is not a easy decision to me cause I never listen to any of them in person.

I'd steer clear of the Pioneer; the price is certainly enticing, but output and depth will be lacking. The F12 will probably be able to extend a bit deeper than the SUB-1200, but a pair of the latter will allow you to even out room modes or give better total output (depending upon how you place them). If dual SUB-1200's are a possibility, price wise, what about a single SUB-1500 instead? I suspect that would be the best of both worlds.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Interesting that none of the authorized dealers have it in stock. I checked all 4. You can get it at this third party seller but NXG may not honor the warranty.

I wouldn't do that, the LV12R is much more accurate and extends a lot lower. You will probably lose a little output, but more than make up for it with sound quality. Plus you always have the option of adding a second LV12R down the road.

Hi guys. I am looking for a budget sub (I wanted under $150, the BIC F12 was on sale for $130 before I started doing this.. I would just buy that if it were still that price)>

I am using this for a PC 2.1 setup, really want to spend under $150 on a sub. so maybe (edit) *Dayton Sub 1200, but I'd love some input on where to go.

The room is a typical 12~15x12~15 with one of those Nook Windows.. it's filled with a couch and a computer but otherwise isn't that big..and I don't need anything too fancy. I am upgrading from a Klipsch Promedia 4.1 system that the sub finally ripped on so I need replacement.

My current equip:
