The Outlaw LFM-1 EX in Maximum Extension mode has a rising frequency response at the very low end. In Maximum Extension mode, the half power point is a very low 16Hz. See the purple line in the following graph:

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/s...iew_fullscreen

Save up your money till the EX goes on sale again for $549 delivered. The EX at $549 is a super bang for the buck sub and one that should not need upgrading for many years. It won't hurt you to wait for something really special like the EX

Far field is usually sub placed in front of room (maybe rear of room depending on size). Near field is next to couch or behind couch or something very close to your listening position.

The best working definition of nearfield is within 4 feet of the listening position. Nearfield has several advantages.

1) Many times nearfield isn't very close to room boundaries (walls), this makes for more even FR.

2) Having the sub closer too you adds some additional db just because its closer. i.e. not farfield.

ok so i guess i will wait and get the BIC acoustech PL-200 unless i think at the point in time i can get the extra 200 together without having to wait forever then i like the look of the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus for the $500 range something about the other epik legend sub with 2 woofers doesnt sit well with me dont know why, but between the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus, Rythmik FV12, and HSU VTF-2 MK4 what do you guys think i should go with for 80% movies and games and 20% music for the sub that would work great for movies and games and as good as possible for music as well

and thank for all the help so far guys

Nothing wrong with a dual powered opposed driver sealed design, it's just a different design, executed well works very nicely. I've got the Empire and it's a fantastic sub.

One of the best subs out there, and highly respected on these forums, is the Seaton Submersive, also a dual powered opposed driver sealed design...just a tad more expensive with a monster amp in the HP model at $2300 plus shipping takes some serious savings.

Of those suggested for the $500 area, they'll all make you smile....

Here's something that might work for you.
PA-150 at acousticsounddesign
Talk around the campfire sez it's a stonkin' bang for your buck.

data-bass
Its numbers look pretty-darn good.

Internet chatter has it that $350 (shipped) will get you one. Though, you'll need to make your offer at the first link.

It does over 93dB@20Hz outdoors, so it should give you decent in-room output. Although, I haven't the foggiest how it sounds.

You can ask about it in the PA-150 thread.

In case you were unaware. -List of budget subwoofers thread

Two would seem to be two too many to me too.
Sarcasm is the sincerest form of flattery.
I bid you a fondue.

I ended up getting the Polk psw505 subwoofer for 199.99 on newegg on credit and have 6 months to pay it off and am pretty happy with it will definitely upgrade later but just found out I have to replace the suspension on my car and if I hadn't gotten this sub wouldn't have ha one at all for a long time but I finally have that rumble for movies and games and sounds pretty good for music. Can't wait to upgrade an get some real authority down to and slightly under 20hz Thanks guys for all your help and time I will be back when I have the money to upgrade to make sure there isn't something new other than what was mention before to consider Hope you are all well

Are you planning on running two separate sub channels? If you are only going to use one channel you will be running a 7.1 system with two subs. Since your budget is $400 I would get something in that range and get the second sub in the future.

my denon 1712 receiver is 7.1 so i think i will just stick with 1 sub and even the psw505 has enough power to shake the floor so when i upgrade later it will still be more than enough with just one

What's the difference? 7.1 is when you hook up one sub, 7.2 when you hook up two (rarely are they actually separate sub channels, so it usually makes no difference if .1 .2 .3 etc)

well my room is set isnt optimal so i rely on the auto calibration and it wouldnt be able to adjust properly for 2 subs and doesnt have a separate subwoofer control so i figured i would never have it sound right one would be more powerful than the other and i would have to mess with the actual sub controls and would take me forever to get it right :S and with my room size one is more than enough even the psw505 on half and at -12db shakes my room so when i upgrade to a $500 dollar range sub the other would just be pointless and lower sound quality so i will just give it to one of my friends or my dad
