I'm about to buy a Polk Audio PSW110 as the sub for my first "true" home theater system. It's a 5.1 with four Klipsch RB-41 II's and RC-42 II for center channel and Yamaha Rx-A710 for receiver.

I keep reading that there are much better subs out there for the same price range plus/minus $100... but I haven't been able to find any here in Canada!

I'm paying $270 for mine (on sale from $400, free shipping too) and all the alternatives that people talk about here on AVSforum in "the same price range" either cost twice the price or don't exist in Canada... for example: BIC Acoustech H100 costs over $500 with shipping.

So am I stuck with the PSW110 for my price range of $270 +/- $100??

EDIT: I'm using it for music and movies equally.

Mabey parts express?

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-629

Should be available by next week.

You could see if Vanns could work out also:

Really? that $130 Dayton Audio SUB-1200 is a better sub?

You are looking in the $300 or less price range. There are many suggestions to look at

Heck the Polk PSW505 is the one I would get over the PSW110

This thread is where you want to look for suggestions

Hmm... the PSW505 is also $500 including shipping up in Canada.. so it seems like the PSW110 is my best option for an under-$300 sub.

EDIT: I found this: http://www.techdepotcanada.com/servl...America/Detail

It's a BIC F12, and I've read on avsforum that it's better than the Polk PSW505, so it must be better than the PSW110! Right??

nope. I've got a Premier Acoustic PA-120 (well, I've got 2) delivered to my door, taxes, duties and delivery included for a good price. It will outperform the Polk in my opinion. It certainly ate my PSW10 for lunch. Just go here to check it out. You can PM me for details if you wish.

cheers
