I agree a sealed sub will give the tightest and most musical sound. However, why not go with something more versatile. The HSU VTF line allows you to run sealed, one port open, or both ports open. Nobody else gives you that much flexibility.
With your price range, you could go all the way, and get a VTF-15H
. You can't have too much sub, as you can always turn it down... and going big would mean that if there are future use cases for this sub, it would meet those too.
But given your small room the VTF-2 MK4
would probably be enough.
I have the VTF-3 MK3 (which has been replaced by the VTF-3 MK4
) and even though mine can't be sealed, it's still VERY tight and musical with one port closed, and hits ultra-low for those big moments in movies. I love my sub, and can't imagine anything else coming close for the price. Just do some research on any of the 3 subs I linked, and you'll find nothing but love out there. You gotta spend at least twice as much to beat them.
