Based on a picture of the back of one of these I found on another forum, the plate amp looks nearly identical to the plate amp on my F12 and V1220s. Both the F12 and V1220s have 3 switches and 2 dials Top switch is power, on/auto/off, second switch is phase 0/180, Next is a "volume" knob, then a crossover knob, at the bottom is a third switch that switches reveiver type from digital to prologic. Directly above that switch is the subwoofer IN and it says IN in big words, not sure where the "out" comes from when you say the switch is "in/out", but more than likely the IN you are seeing is the label for the subwoofer in jack that is right above that switch and the switch itself changes receiver type.

Sorry. Not sure about the in/out for the crossover switch. You might ask in the owners thread for the PL-200.

You're right. It is the phase switch (din't catch that one). I have mine at 0* and the crossover knob all the way to 120. I guess the PL200 has a "in" or "out" switch. I believe (after reading some threads) the "in" is for internal crossover and "out" is for external (avr does the crossover).

The " in - out " switch is for the crossover control. Setting it to in will engage the internal crossover. In that set up you will use the knob on the PL-200. Setting the switch to out is the same as a bypass switch that disables the internal crossover. You can set it either way but it is best to use the crossover setting in the AVR.

Thanks, cel4145!

I have another question here...I just received an email from Newegg about a deal they have. I can get the Klipsch RW-12d for $300. What are your opinions? Is this sub better than the PL-200? Should I have my dad return the PL-200 and get this instead?

Thanks!

Sure. The RW-12d is a little bit better sub. But if your dad is happy with the PL-200, keep in mind he'd have to pay return shipping on it. Not cheap to ship a sub.
