I would search for the Energy S10.3. It is a serious subwoofer. 8 inch subs mostly leave a lot to be desired. In the USA, the S10.3 has been selling for as little as $170. The S10.3 would be big step up from the models you listed...

The first one claims to be Canadian made which I really like cause you can't find that anymore it seems. The second is by the same company but is it also Canadian made? Would be awesome if it was. Thanks for any and all help.
I am sure the group is going to want some more info like your budget and room size. I thought I heard somewhere that Energy is part of Klipsch? I know there are lots of goods things said about the Energy 10.3, where it is made, I don't know. You can look at Paradigm and Funk Audio for Canadian, however they are pricy.

Well my room is around 12ft by 20ft. So it's not big. The poster above you said 8 inch subs would be too small. Should I go for 10" or bigger. I don't need to blow the walls apart. LOL

What about this Sony Sub? I would go well with my set of Sony surrounds I now have.

I would go with the Paradigm PDR-10 over any of the 8" subwoofers you have listed and the 10" Sony.

12' x 20' x 7.5' (or more) = at least 1,800 cu.ft. That's big enough that I wouldn't buy an 8" sub or an ineffective 10" sub. The Energy S10.3 is a great sub for the money. If your situation permits, you could wait for the next time it's on sale for ~$200 incl. shipping, have it delivered to Ogdensburg, and drive down to pick it up.

Aside from that, the $150 PDR-10 you linked to would be a pretty good way to go, too.

And where would I possibly find the Energy S10.3 for $200 incl. shipping?? Both NewEgg.com and Amazon.com won't ship it to Canada and that sub is not available on the Canadian equivalents. We get screwed like that a lot of times online. I don't have a car so I can't exactly drive anywhere. I'll see if the Paradigm is still available. The lister says he has two so maybe one is still left. I inquired about the Energy 8" for the fun of it just in case.

And that's exactly the reason why I made a point of saying "If your situation permits... "

Good idea.

Good idea.

I do like the fact that this version of the Paradigms are "made in Canada". We in North America rarely see that these days. "Made in USA" or Made in Canada". Most everything these days is made in one asian country or another. Nothing against asians. I love asians and their culture. It just sucks that very little is made here in North America any more. Energy speakers used to be the same too which is partly why I considered the sub I posted originally. I've also read many good reviews for it.

I noticed you're located in Ottawa Canada. I am as well. Nice to meet another from Canada's capital on here. smile.gif

Yup, not too many local guys on this forum site. smile.gif (DigitalHome.ca has a few more Ottawa/Gatineau members on it.)

What about this one? Seems to have a lot of good reviews.
I don't know anything about it, but since you can return it if you don't like it, it's at least worth checking out.
