Been reading older posts for the last couple of days about both of these subs. I have been going back and forth between the two (mostly because of price). I live in Hawaii, so shipping (HSU, EPIK, SVS, etc.) is out of the question. Heck, shipping two Energys is about $162 and probably more towards $200 for the Klipsch (Newegg).

The room these two subs will be residing in is huge (about 7500 cu. or a bit more). I'd be using them for 60% movies and 40% music. I know that neither one will give me real bass, but they are the best I can find on Amazon (free shipping). I can get the Energy s10.3 for $259 each or the Klipsch rw12d for $418 each. Which two would you run? I would be placing both of the subs behind my couch (near field).

I guess what I'm asking is whether either sub is worth the price? I currently have two H100s and could live with them. I would just have to wait a year or so before I make a trip to the mainland to purchase a couple of "real" subs.cool.gif

Thanks

I would wait the year so you're not wasting money if it were me - especially if you currently have a pair of subwoofers. Hold off a year, save so you've a good budget for a pair of woofers and in the long run I'm sure you'll be much happier. This is assuming that the cost of bringing a pair of 30-150lb subwoofers isn't absurd as well.

Thanks for the info. I was reading your post the other day. How do you like the sub you settled on? I hope the Mrs. wasn't too hard on you.tongue.gif I am leaning towards waiting (so hard to do), but like you say, it just might be the smartest thing to do. The two H100s have sufficed for the past three years, but as always, I would like a bit more (and the fact they are now in a room three to four times larger).

I guess the real solution would be to stay away from AVS or Audioholics.biggrin.gif

I told the wife after bringing her flowers :-p She wasn't too terribly hard on me at all. I'll find out out I like it this Wednesday smile.gif I'm sure I'm going to love it because I don't have a sub at all so it's a 100% improvement. My only "problem" is that I'll have to set things manually for now as I got the receiver as an open box, and the idiots at best buy didn't have the right remote, or the microphone for the auto setup frown.gif

That's a bummer on the mic. and remote. You got a single sub.no? I'm looking into dual PA-150s. I just don't think I'm ever gonna be able to afford some nice dual subs with shipping being such a big hit. Hopefully I can get a good deal on the 150s (I purchased the H100s from the same place). I'll keep an eye out for your review.

Yes. Flowers are always nice.biggrin.gif

if you already have two BIC H-100's the subs you are considering are mostly lateral type moves. The S10.3's are probably a bit tighter but won't have more output or extension, and the Klipsch's might have some more output.... but if I were you, especially considering the huge space, I would save up until you can afford a REAL upgrade into the next price tier.

Ahh. A lateral move isn't gonna cut it. I was looking at getting the PA150s, but it was gonna cost me $300 to ship them.eek.gif I did see a used SVS 2plus for $600 (would offer $450), but I'm on a different island and can't audition it personally. I'm just worried that it'll crap out sooner than later.

Man I wish some of the better subs would be sold on Amazon.

Thanks for the help. You were also very helpful when I was deciding on some Energy speakers.
