Seems the maker of some of the very best drivers available has decided to enter the game. Check out this link...

The feature list they promise implies that these will be tippy-top-end subs to compete with the DD18+s of the world. Interestingly the preview pics show devices that resemble SVSounds' ported Ultra. That's hot, but I hope they include some 'lower-end' systems that are within reach of the beer budget crowd tongue.gif

Maybe next time around; even the amp sounds like it's going cost quite a few $$$. eek.gif

Absolutely. And you're not alone; they look gorgeous, and seem to have a ton of features, so I'm salivating too. But my wallet is saying fuggedaboutit... tongue.gif

My guess is more like $3k + maybe even as high as $4k.

I can see these subs easily passing 4k. The materials and features involved put them in a class that goes toe to toe with the fanciest systems out there. Really the only thing that might limit their asking price is the fact that the company itself is known best to DIYers, who will be disinclined to spend many thousands of dollars on subwoofers.

add me to the $3-4K bracket for pricing guessing as well.

These are Velo DD+ and JL competitors in both output capabilities and feature set.

Of course, if they offer these as ID subs, they might undercut those subs in price (by a bit)

I wonder how the LMS-V1 would compare to dual SVS PB-13 Ultra. Both should run about $4,000. Duals typically have the advantage in frequency response, but the remote control of the LMS-V1 is pretty handy, speaking from experience. smile.gif

Beefy... Good for them!

Let's hope they QA the hell out of those before they even consider shipping them out to customers.

If this becomes well reviewed and makes a splash on the commercial market, I think it's going to up the image of TC Sounds and their current drivers. Let's hope that doesn't result in price hike of their raw drivers in the future.

Here's my delimma though... Since you can get a LMS-R 15" for under $500, would any of you guys really consider dropping like $3-4K on a sub you know you could replicate for around $1K?

It's nice... It is, but at if it comes out to $3K+ I'll sit back and enjoy the show with my dual Ultra setup for the same price...

Regardless of price I would like to see it wipe the floor with all of the other mass marketed subs out there.

DIY yourself will always be cheaper for those with the necessary skills and tools required.

Can you get the same plate amp off the shelf with the same features shown like remote/LCD display ? sadly when your running HT this may all get bypassed

now the question is, will they try to kill the competion by not selling raw drivers to other manufacturers ?

as for wiping the floor of those mass market subs, I guess this is a no brainer, now the question is, how will it compare to other manufacturers sub using the same driver biggrin.gif

Pardon my ignorance, but what company makes a turnkey product with an LMS driver? Funky Waves? Any others?

If I am not mistaken they also manufacture spec drivers for different companies.

TC drivers are great, no doubt, but they are not the only great drivers out there. There are other sub makers with turn key products that also have great drivers. Make no mistake about it, the SVS 13 Ultra driver is an amazing driver. It has no problem competing with just about any 15" driver out there and many 18" drivers as well. The 18" driver used in the Captivator line and the Orbit Shifters is a fantastic product. JL also builds great drivers. Funk Audio claims that their TSAD driver compares fairly favorably to the LMS driver for less money. I'm sure the drivers in the top-line Velodynes and Paradigm subs are terrific, although the products happen to be very pricey..

When Ron Stimpson was still at the company I was always able to contact him directly and find out what the status was (he and I had worked out the arrangements for me to get an LMS15-P1 for review as soon as they were released). Since he left TC Sounds the person who took over that process no longer responds to emails unfortunately, so my line of communications was effectively cut off. I suspect that also means I won't get my hands on the LMS15-P1 either. Shame too, because that one I was very much looking forward to.

FWIW, I called the company and a recording came on that said, questions are best responded to via e-mail, so minutes ago, I left an e-mail regarding when will their subwoofer line be launched, what the introductory prices are going be and if they'll deal internet direct or only through a dealer network.

It's now 09:05, Monday morning. Time will tell if I'll get a reply.

Pretty sure Ron was never at TC Sounds. He was still active US Army when he and Tom V founded SVS. SVS did source some of its drivers from TCS before they brought all driver design/production in-house.

Ron was definitely at TC Sounds for a few years. He and I started emailing last August, and even spoke once or twice on the phone. He was their Chief of Operations.
