How do I connect my subwoofer to my receiver correctly using speaker level inputs with this subwoofer

It has speaker line ins

Connection "METHOD 2" at the top of page 4 of the owner's manual seems to suggest that you run a set of L+R speaker-level connections from your AVR to your sub in addition to the set of L+R speaker-level connections you have running from your AVR to your L+R mains.
