I am an audio/video enthusiasts but just don' t want to take the kind of extreme measures like removing the carpet (whether in the middle or just around the edges of the room) or drilling through the basement/sub-floor etc.
Wow, you love fabricating a strawman just so you can repeatedly call it "extreme". For the record, I lifted a couple inches of carpet on one side of the room and slid my Home Depot fishtape to the other side to pull the subwoofer cable through. Nothing more complicated than that.

OK, now it's five down with four to go...

Front Row (left to right)
1: RSL SpeedWoofer 10
2: Simply Sound Audio Rumba 12
3:
4:
5: Source Loudspeaker HVS 10

Back Row (left to right)
1:
2:
3: SpeakerCraft V12
4: PowerSound Audio XS15

So here's another hint... of the remaining four, do any of them look like a sub I might have already reviewed?

# 4 looks like a Atlantic Tech badge but don't know what model if it is a Atlantic Tech.
The other one looks like a Paradigm or Velodyne with the curved sides.

No Paradigm or Velodyne, but that is indeed an Atlantic Technology sub. 444SB to be precise. That leaves just three now! Here's the updated list...

Front Row (left to right)
1: RSL SpeedWoofer 10
2: Simply Sound Audio Rumba 12
3:
4: Atlantic Technology 444SB
5: Source Loudspeaker HVS 10

Back Row (left to right)
1:
2:
3: SpeakerCraft V12
4: PowerSound Audio XS15

Guess everyone knows what some of my upcoming reviews are going to be now, eh? tongue.gif

There's still this hint: "of the remaining four (now three), do any of them look like a sub I might have already reviewed?" Add to that a hint about a different unit: "it's possible one of them may be more then just a subwoofer to review, I might know a lot about what goes into it".

Nope, nothing from M&K. I've already compiled my list of subs for the next round of reviews, and the SB12 is among them. Doesn't mean I'll get one; I certainly get my fair share of "thanks, but no thanks". It's on my short list though - I want to hear for myself if the M&K stuff is worth the reputation they've acquired.

I have never heard the new MK Sound company subwoofers, but from what I have read, they don't compare with the former flagship M&K subwoofers. I am interested in reviews of the M&K 5000THX, or the M&K MPS 5410. Ken Kreisel also has a whole new line up subwoofers for sale, but the price tag is a bit steep. A direct comparison between the M&K MPS 5410 professional subwoofer and the Seaton Submersive HP is what interests me the most.

Since it appears as though the guesses have ceased, perhaps it's time I disclose what the 9 subwoofers are. So, here they are...

Front Row (left to right)
1: RSL SpeedWoofer 10
2: Simply Sound Audio Rumba 12
3: Phase Technology WL-12
4: Atlantic Technology 444SB
5: Source Loudspeaker HVS 10

Back Row (left to right)
1: XTZ W12.16
2: EbenLee Audio ELA-4
3: SpeakerCraft V12
4: PowerSound Audio XS15

Apparently "someone" totally missed the story about a certain home theater system that has a few more than 9 little subwoofers scattered around the room... Overkill, yes. Ridicules, to some. Optimal bass coverage throughout the entire room and every seating position? You bet!

This "someone" merely lined up the subs he had for testing, along with a few he owns, to snap a fun picture. That "someone" has all of those pieces hooked up, clearly in an attempt to compensate for something.

I'll give it to him for creating a system most of us can't even comprehend, but what a colossal waste of time and money. That being said... I'd like to watch a movie in there one time.

You know what the funny part is? Other then my three -- which are still here -- most of the subs in that picture have gone back to their respective manufacturers already. But the next wave has begun to arrive, at a rate of one per week. I now have three others that weren't in that picture, and if everything works out according to plan there's another half dozen I have commitments for that should be here in the next two months.

Jim, I was not saying anything about you. I understand completely what the point of your post and picture was from the very beginning of this thread. I was merely referring to Mupi and his "ridicules" comments, which seems to be a reoccurring theme around here with him.

Also I guess 'budget' is a relative term. I think of anything less than 1k in audio as 'budget'. Maybe I'm extreme in that way..
