Hey guys im new here, i guess just kinda getting into the whole audio scene, not new to forums though. Anyway im a sophomore in college and have a little system for just listening to music, i have a sony receiver powering 2 tower speakers, their made by MCM audio which is a company here in dayton ohio where i live, not sure if you guys have ever heard of them, they put out pretty decent sound, i have replaced the mids and tweeters in them with dayton audio ones. but i am looking to add a little bass to my mini system haha. i am in college so i wanted to spend around 100 bucks. i know im not going to get a very good one for that price but im just looking to add a little bass. What would you guys buy?
If you can step up to $200, then there are two good options. The BIC F12 (thru Amazon) and the Energy S10.3 on sale at Newegg. The F12 will have more SPL (max output) of the two, and the S10.3 will have a little better SQ and better low end frequency extension, and both would be a worthwhile upgrade over the Dayton. As Joshjp suggested, most people on here would really encourage you to save up for one of those two if you can.
But otherwise, the Dayton is going to be your best choice at around $100. Stop shopping. Pick it up. If you don't like it, return it since it's local pickup. Then you know you need to save up $100 more.
