I see a lot of talk in the Bass thread about this and thought it could have its own thread. Is the blu filtered and how is it? I don't have it in hand yet but plan to check it out tomorrow. Plus I skipped it in the theater so I could experience it in all glory at home on the calibrated JVC RS35 and dual 15H. Pretty excited to say the least.

So I just popped the Avengers DVD in my computer, just to check it out
and it caused my VLC media player to crash!

A box popped up asking me if I wanted to report the bug to VLC

So I pulled it out and placed a different DVD (High Plains Drifter) in and it played just fine.

Do I have a defective Avengers DVD?

I was the first person in the US to obtain a legal copy of the 3D version...

First... Period.

Bass was kind of lacking IMO, compared to Iron Man 1/2 and Thor. Just seemed like where there should be powerful deep bass there was much of any bass. Using SVS 25-31 PCi's and Arx A5 towers. Great dynamics though just lacks in the bass department.

For some reason the Bluray version will not load? It spins until 1:30 then just freezes. However, the 3D version loaded fine... I heard someone mention it made their VLC player crash... Interesting.

I've had mine since 10:02am this morning. The day of the "official" release.

Yeah, someone was complaining that there wasn't enough below 20hz (smh).

Working fine on this end. I tried it successfully on all 4 bluray players (s570, BD60, PS3, and some super cheapo Toshiba)

Had to reset my Bluray player a few times, but it eventually worked itself out... Love this damn movie.

Any of you guys post some Waterfall charts for this movie in the bass thread or here?....so far all of them have been from different regions and pirated versions. I just want to see if the US version is any different.

Thanks smile.gif

I am about to test some scenes myself as it is too late for the whole movie. Good thing I have seen it 6 times already.

Watched 2D disc a few times. I remember watching it in 3D at the theater and thinking that it would look awesome in 2D on Blu-ray. And you know, it sure does. I've not watched the 3D disc. I can't say I wanted for anything in the bass department. If fact, I ended up turning some levels down. There were some creaks coming from the walls that had me concerned, lol.

About half way through with an Oppo-93 and no problems so far. Bass has been great with 2 SB12-nsd's.

And a great flick to watch too!

7.1 DTS-hd. The bass half way thru is 4 stars so far but the big end battle has yet to come. The Dark night had deeper and louder bass that I can remember.

What did you think of the building collapse at the early stage of the movie? I'm in Australia and thought that the bass was very weak during that part (I've got the local Region B disc). I was hoping the Hulk roar and him fighting Thor would have deep bass but it didn't. Nothing like I heard at the local cinema where the bass was amazing.

Agree 100%. On my US Blu Ray copy, the building collapse you reference was (IMO) the best bass in the whole movie, which really disappointed me as well since the theater version had great bass throughout.

The theater version was probably just playing louder. This movie reminds me of Avatar, in bass and overall sound quality. I will give it the same rating of 4 stars. Lots of feel just not the best of the best, still a great experience but nothing like the 5 stars for bass. The dark night was deeper and louder which I gave 4.5 stars.

Just finished watching for first time, this is a great action entertaining movie with plenty of incedible LFE (about 4 or 4.5).

What scenes? I was impressed with the start when the tesseract was playing up and the whole building shook when it was pulsating but that's really the only memorable (huge bass) moment of the whole movie imo. Also when Hawkeye takes out the propeller on the Hellicarrier, that was pretty good as well.

Yep it was so when I watched it at home I was pretty disappointed. I even turned it up to see if it's one of these movies that requires that but didn't make any difference.

After the whole opening scene, which I thought was hugely bassy, one of my buddies who is familiar with my system says "are you gonna turn your subs down a little" I guess in fairness I had them +10 on the receiver and about 60% up at the subs, maybe just because I was running the system hot? Who knows, Pretty much the whole movie was full of bass, opening scene, any fight scene, Iron man flying, planes/helicopters taking off, porthole opening. I'll rewatch it tonight or tomorrow, and let you know key moments I was impressed with.

I haven't measured it, but it didn't strike me as going terribly low. Caveat being I was letting someone else have my "calibrated" seat location, as I was sitting off to the side. Sounded like good movie theater bass, which is to say hard hitting and punchy, just not digging super deep. Of course, there was moments where the room was clearly pressurized more than others so it may go pretty low. Also, some scenes seemed almost too boomy, like they were focused in the 60-80hz region to much.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

If your sub is set at +10 on the receiver and you're also 60% hot on the subs, your system is obviously not calibrated properly. With those settings, your evaluation of the bass in any movie would be grossly exaggerated.
