After reading some of the posts here, I purchased a Y splitter to add a second sub to my home theater setup as I really need some base at the back of the room. Anyway long story short is that when I connect both subs to the LFE using the splitter I am getting a load of buzzing sounds, even with the receiver turned off. It was even buzzing and clicking on one Sub until I turned the receiver on and then I just got a lot of loud buzzing. If I unplug one of the subs from the Y splitter all is well. I am using 2 Polk subs on an Onkyo receiver, the Y splitter was cheap from Bestbuy but after all I read here I didn’t think the cable needed to be anything more? PLEASE help….

Many thanks!

Check out the hum FAQ in the Audio Theory Setup and Chat area. Sounds like a ground loop to me and how to troubleshoot is covered there.
