Just wondering? What kind of increase in electric bills are we looking at if I leave it on all the time. I have an M&K V-75. Thanks.

I leave mine on, and unless there's a difference in power needed to light up a green led vs. a red led, I'd say no increase in power used whatsoever, or at most very minimal.

Did you ask M + K ?

It's for 'wall hung dude'.... sheesh ... dirty minds around these parts....

When not in use, we turn everything off that we can. We're on a tiered electric usage price schedule. The more we use, into the next level we go and the more we pay. I have no idea how a modern internet home, with electric dryer/washer, coffee maker, clocks on everything with electronics in them (Damn that 555 timer chip), dishwashers, night lights, outdoor security lights, refrigerators, freezers, heating/air conditioning, home theater, routers, modems, little wall warts everywhere, not to mention multiple TV users.....can meet the lowest usage tiers.

The point, you bet your sweet bippy we turn the subs off when not in use. smile.gif

I've been unplugging all my equipment when not in use and saving around $100 per month. I have a lot of gear in my HT room.

I keep both my subs to Auto ON... So when no signal the sub is off with just a red LED and when enough signal is generated on the sub goes and then the Green LED comes on.

In our neck of the woods, for a 1750sqft home, which was well constructed in 2002 with sealed exterior walls and openings at time of last painting with elastimeric stucco undercoating, finished garage with insulated ceiling, energy efficient appliances, heavily upgraded attic insulation to R-40 specs with upgraded heater/air conditioning flex duct pipe (R-8, the highest available at this time), CFL lights, turning lights off when not in use, double paned windows through out the home, carpet with 5/8" pad on bedroom floors with insulated crawl space floor joists, we use an average of $250.00/month in electricity, plus propane needs. eek.gif

We tried, we lost, we failed. Boo, hoo, hoo. frown.gif

The next ecological upgrade will be a tankless water heater and that will only set us back a total of $3,500.00 for two stage regulator, 3/4" gas line upgrade plus the purchase and installation, with permits, of a decent tankless water heater so we can hopefully save an average of $60.00/mo in propane charges.

Between the propane and electricity charges, it's a wonder we can afford the subwoofers to turn off. tongue.gif

I leave everything on auto. Based on the heat produced when off, It really shouldn't add much to our monthly bills. Probably a lot less than a fridge. I have electric heating via a heat pump and that is by far our most expensive thing to run.

I have a Triangle Meteor 0.1.5 (it's pretty big) and I leave it on auto. The power consumption is negligible.

Wow. We live back in your old stomping grounds and we average about $180 per month for gas and electricity. It goes up to about $220 in December/January due to the holidays, kids being home, and winter (what ever that is in our area). We stay very comfortable and keep the sub on smile.gif

My powered sub is on auto. Although, it has the brightest, most annoying blue LED light on the planet. Any issues if I covered it with electrical tape? It shines on my screen, I have to block it it's so bad.

I don't have a sub (planning to boy one) but to anyone worried about power consumption, I recommend buying a power meter , test it and know how much does it really cost. I have one and I find it to be very useful for these things.

secondhandler, i cover electronics' LEDs with duct tape all the time. hasn't caused any issues yet...

so i looked up if the M&K V-75 has an auto-on function and according to some reviews (http://*******/3q0bS) it does, but the manual doesn't say anything about it and doesn't have a switch on the back that would indicate that it does. i might just check out something like the power meter.

I have that same sub and I leave it plugged in all the time (10+ years). Last week though, I was getting a low hum even though all my equipment was powered off. I put my hand on the cone and it was vibrating even though there was no signal going to it. Obviously it was drawing power even though it was in standby. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and the vibrating stopped. Maybe this means that it's finally about to bite the dust, but for now I'm going to start unplugging it when not in use.

Both on Auto, no idea what it costs/saves. I care more about longevity of equipment and ease of use than a few cents.
