Started out many years ago with surround speakers only. Next I bought an Infinity BU-1. About 2 years later I added another Infinity BU-1. Just last week I bought a Polk Audio PSW505. It showed up damaged, but worked fine,,,, It was a huge improvement BUT,knowing I was sending it back and after reading the AVS forum and seeing what others were saying and finding out there were so many levels of quality..... I had the golden opportunity to just "check" to see what else I could get into.... just another step or 2 up..... after much reading and hours of pondering how real true bass might sound..... I pulled the trigger on a HSU VTF2 MK4. All I can say is, man, Im glad that Polk showed up damaged!!!

Sometime in the early 2000's?? JBL Cinema Pro Pack 600 or something along those lines, it was a HTiB with coffe cup sattelites and a passive 8" sub, sounded decent for first system, much better than Bose imo.

Went for several years with no stereo after moving.

2013:  The JBL amp from the HTiB was way too deep for the built in bookshelves in my current living room so ended up purchasing:

RXV-375 Yamaha AVR

Polk PSW110 since the JBL sub was passive.

HSU HB1 MK2 for mains and HSU HC1 center

Sony BDP5100 blu ray.

Bought a SVS PB12-NSD January 2nd 2014

Traded in for PB200, it is the final destination, has arrived and is set up.

My room can only accommodate one sub, and this one has more output than I will ever need.  Planning to be content with this for many years.

AVR:       Yamaha RXV-375

Display:  Panasonic  TH-50PC77U

LCR:       Hsu HB1.2  HC1.2

Sub:       (2) PSA XV15se

Blu Ray:  Sony BDP-S5100

I was revisiting this thread, read your above post and then looked at your equipment list... Looks like you were another upgraditus victim...

Haha...AVS is probably the most common carrier of the bug, so anyone spending ample time around the wrong crowd is bound to get infected.

Lol so true! Whenever someone on here says that they don't plan on buying anymore subs or a bigger one in the future I always laugh and tell them they had better stay clear of this forum. Specifically, the Subwoofers, Bass, and Tranducers section.

Now if you have a pair of JTR Cap 2400's or something similar in performance you're probably set for a while in the subwoofer department.

Not true. Rhed had 4 S2's and sold them for the new full range JTR 215 speakers (I think)

Haha yeah, I was pretty content with that sub until I measured the room and figured out I could not fix a bad null without another sub.

Come clean Bear. The PB2000 was not enough, hince why you went to a XS30, then added the Psw110 back into the mix and realized 2 subs were a must. At that point you decided to go dual
XV15's, but I belive you have mentioned upgrading yet again in another year(Rythmik kits and diy cabs). I would say you have definitely been bit by the bug.

I still say you should go up another level if you actually do make a sub change. While the Rythmik is still a notch up, imo its not worth the change from what you currently have. Go multiple sealed or LLT UXL-18's if you want to quench the thirst for bass.

Just two caps? Nah...That's just a start I know plenty around here that still used caps as a stepping stone to even larger, more extended sealed systems.

Whatever route bear goes, I hope he reaches his satisfaction point as cost efficiently as possible. I totally understand that some people simply enjoy the journey.... That said, I'm confident that EVERYONE hates losing money when they have to sell off gear to afford their next upgrade...especially when they could have just invested a bit more up front and saved a bit of time and coin in the process.

That's kinda the premise of this thread. If it helps one or two people skip a few steps in the upgrade journey, then it's served it's purpose.

That graph is making your response look better then it actually is. 5db incriments on the verticle axis is standard. Needless to say your system is much more capable then mine so no pun intended.

I got my 505 for $150 new, through Newegg, and while I'm awaiting delivery of an SVS SB12-NSD on Tues., I can't complain about the output from this Polky. For the price, I doubt you'll find a better sub. But yeah, it's still a bargain sub, when you see how much quality you can get for not too much more. Or a lot more, depending on the income. heh

VerticalScope made a gratuitous change to the URL format of posts within a thread. Instead of the URL for a post ending in something like this:

Code:
#post_12345
they changed it to:

Code:
#post12345
So at least the fix is not too bad - just remove the underscore on each link.

Does this mean that every AVS post I've linked in the past will have the same issue?

You probably just saved me several hours trying to clean up this thread man... I really appreciate it!

Well, I'm going to hold off on editing any other links. Knowing my luck, admin will correct the issue to re-establish all of the old links and going through the trouble to manually correct the links would just be wasted effort.

Well, that seems like the most logical approach AVS could take, but....who knows.

Hopefully they make time to address your post sooner than later.

Every day that passes I am becoming more and more convinced that new AVS should come with a operating manual.

It's getting a little better, with each update, where it appears they are attempting to get it closer to what it was previously, but keeping some of the more robust options of vbulletin at the same time. I hated it at first, but they are getting a lot of the functionality back. Classifieds still needs some serious work, and private messaging could be better, but so far, they have at least done enough to keep me around. At first, I wasn't so sure I was going to....
